I'm in the process of scanning a stack of Mondial literature (hope to put up soon for you all!) In the meantime, I hope you all find this interesting. Cheers Image Unavailable, Please Login
btw, the main discrepancy I see is the 3.2 Mondial Cabrio. This is from an Italian Magazine "Ferrari Story" The number I see frequently thrown around is 804 3.2 Cabs, this is saying 604 produced. Hopefully, somebody here on this thread can provide substantiation either way. Cheers
The last list that I saw showed 178 Cabs for 1988, but that was probably just for the US. What's really weird, Ferrari Story magazine only shows 2 for the Mondial t.
I have already posted these, but here we go again nevertheless... The factory official production figures for the "Mondial", as given in Dirk-Michael Konradt's book ("Autos, Die Geschichte machten: die Ferrari 308/328"; MotorBuchVerlag, 1990) here they are by calender year (And NOT model year!) are: Mondial 8: Total 703 1980: 25 1981: 569 1982: 92 1983: 17 Mondial QV: Total 1774, of which coupés 1145, cabriolets 629 1982: Coupes 308, Cabrio 1 1983: 366 / 66 1984: 302 / 334 1985: 169 / 228 Mondial 3,2: Total 1797, coupés 987, cabriolets 810 (of which 449 cabriolets for the US market) 1985: Coupes 120, cabrios 80 1986: 303 / 251 1987: 269 / 273 1988: 295 / 206 Mondial T coupes total 858, cabriolets 1017 (of which 379 cabriolets for the US Market) The first 40 or so "Mondial T" produced in "Euro" version are not fitted with catalytic converters, and therefore slightly more powerful. It will be really interesting to know how many are left of each model? Mine's a 1985 QV Coupe - how many are left intact out of the 1145 made?
Paul, Note that these are OFFICIAL figures from the factory, and they have to be treated as such: usually they are "fairly reliable", meaning that you might from time to time find people saying that "they know better", but are usually unable to prove conclusively that the factory figures are not right... Interstingly we had a exchange of views last year with dear friend "AlbertoLP" in the 308 section; Alberto lives in Italy near Maranello, and he had found sales figures by calendar year for 1978 and 1979, and for each main market, in period magazines; NOTE: not production figures, but sales figures. After some discussion and jiggling here and there between "production" figures and "sales" figures, we were able to cross-check the datas and they matched fairly convincingly. BUT it has to be said however that from time to time, especially during the years with a lot of changes in models, the figures are indeed more difficult to cross-check. 1980 is a very good example with the last GT4, the first injected 308s produced in the same time than the last carbed cars, etc... Note also as an interesting "aside", that we all know since years but is nevertheless interesting to see in the figures/datas, is that the largest proportion of open cars go to the US. If my memory serves me well, for the carbed 308 GTS, it was as high as 70%! Rgds
I'm interested in the 2 Mondial T models made in 1988. I wonder what the build dates were? My 3.2 coupe (US version) has an August, 1988 build date, and the T couldn't be very far behind it, I would think.
And There's another one just up the road from me. So we can confirm at least 3 QV coupes still remaining!!! And, if the numbers are correct, in 1985 there were only 19 QV Coupes imported/sold in North America. Sid
One of our community created this interactive map of Mondial owners. we should make a push to have our FChat Mondial owners update it!!! https://www.zeemaps.com/map?group=831366 Sid
David, During the eighties, a "new" model of Ferrari didn't immediately stop the production of the earlier one: usually they overlapped for some weeks, or even months. The first 348s were produced starting March 1989, alongside the last 328s for sixth months: the 328 production stopped in September 1989. Rgds
