    I love this surveys, i remenber one in 07 when it was said that Mclaren was teh most popular team in f.1, lololo, i bet that's not true even inside Woking's factory plant!!!

    Global surveys. It's a different world. Take soccer vs. Baseball. One or the other of them is considered the weirdest activity on Earth depending on where you live.

    Anyway, I have no problem with HAM's popularity. He would be my first pick if I were to start my own F1 team.

    Schumacher was popular because he was the best, and drove for Ferrari...some things he did definitely didn't help his popularity, especially in the UK!

    Hamilton's popularity is high because he wants to be popular. Can say what you want, but he's got the ''being popular'' bit nailed, especially stateside. No one in the States knows who Bottas is, or Vettel, or some guy called Rosberg. But they all know Hamilton...because he mixes in the right circles (for being popular). Being handy behind the wheel obviously helps too. Like Schumacher, he very much divides fans of actual racing.

    They say Hamilton is popular in the United States, but I honestly do mot know anyone that likes him and it is due more to who he is seen with and his lack of authenticity (along with the people he hangs out with). Everyone I know likes Kimi, Vettel, Ricciardo and especially Verstappan. Will Buxton has said in interviews NBC has been told to focus on Hamilton to grow Formula 1 in the United States..

    Every year the survey results are oddball, and nothing decent ever came from it as any good ideas are swamped by the most ridiculous ones
