Yes but now it's just team orders. So now MB will do the same. Haters will yell about that. Ferrari are the bad guys again lol.

Kimi will calm down when he sees what happened, and he is a team player, so he will be good with it. He helped massa in 2008 when he didn't need too

Is it really reasonable to think Ferrari told the teams to pit Kimi first to give Vettel the win? It was the middle of the race; anything could happen at that point...impossible to predict if pitting first would be a disadvantage or not.

Exactly. For once, it just worked out. Plenty of times before Kimi could have swapped places in other races and either didn't, or did it too late

Really brought it home to me today how much NBC actually corrupt and damage the product they have paid to distribute and supposedly add value to.

I saw the world feed and nothing but the world feed with a couple of guys talking in a language I could barely follow and it was great.

Kimi chose to pit. It wasn't team orders. He was losing time towards the end and he felt that it was a good time for him to pit. He can't blame anyone but himself.

Exactly. He asked on the radio to pit. Enough with the conspiracy theories.

He's possibly hoping for a 2018 contract with Ferrari - Upset/annoyed as he is, he knows it was a good result for the team, the WDC, and being re-signed for another year.

Meanwhile, Jenson Button interview on Channel 4:

"An unfortunate end to your Grand Prix, but have you enjoyed your weekend overall?"

Button: "I enjoyed yesterday, and I enjoyed some laps today, but I never enjoy damaging the car, so I apologise to the team for that. Pascal's tyres were the same as I'd had on from the start of the race and were pretty shot, I thought the overtake was on and so went for it, we might be at the back but we are still racing. I thought the overtake was on, then realised Pascal hadn't seen Me and tried to back out of it, but by that time it was too late. The good thing is Pascal is okay, I've just seen him, you never want to see a car on its side as you don't know what might happen with the drivers head, but he's okay so that's good"

"Has this whetted your appetite to come back to F1?"

    Button: "No, not at all!"

Bingo. Anything else is just rationalization. It sucks for Kimi, who is being pressured to step his game up, to not be supported to win the race. However, should the WDC come down to a few points of separation at the end of the season (which it reasonably may), those seven points may loom large.

I'm pissed but would've done the same if I was Ferrari. We need the points, he's now a DNF ahead of Hamilton....and we need more as we go through components quicker. I just hope Ferrari make it right with Raikkonen regarding offering a contract extension.

Was Kimi too slow before his stop? No, he had a nice gap but as soon as they got near traffic (~2 seconds) he started to hit turbulence...when that traffic was finally cleared we saw how he pulled a 3 second gap in 2 laps. What actually cost him was Ferrari pitting him in Traffic...Had they waited 2 laps or so he'd definitely be ahead of Wehrlein let alone Button, Bottas wasn't a threat they couldn't switch tires on at all and there was a huge gap. It's a shame really, but it was the only way to get Vettel ahead without being too obvious.

For you but the press will ensure it continues. Kimi was slower but that wont stop the issue from going away lol

+1 but his look on the podium tells me he thinks that might have been his last chance at an actual victory this year.....potentially.

Precise explanation and I couldn't agree more.

The tough part is that Ferrari have put pressure on him, both publicly and privately, to perform better and he ends up on pole only to finish second. I'm certain they will tell him that his performance today was what they wanted, but he'll find little solace in that. Winning at Monaco would have been special, especially at this point in his career.

Err, no. He was coming out in traffic, they should've said ''we need 2 laps at X seconds''. They have the data, he doesn't.

A good GP for Ferrari, dominating practise, taking the front row in qualifs, and winning 1-2.
What more can we hope for?

No point mulling over tactics or why Kimi didn't keep the lead.

It looks like Vettel is heading for another championship, although Hamilton isn't giving up yet.

Not a good weekend for Mercedes though ...

At the end of the day, if Kimi doesn't like what happened today, and if he feels Ferrari has screwed him over, then he knows what to do - Walk away from the team, and walk away from the sport!

The fact is, so far this season Seb has been doing the job required, and Kimi, for one reason or another, hasn't!

Already this season, Seb is in the fight for the WDC, and Kimi isn't really! - Who's fault is that? Ferrari's? Or Kimi's?

Kimi knows how Ferrari works! He knows that if they have one driver with a big points advantage over the other then they will start to put their support behind that driver ASAP, especially if that driver could win the WDC for them.

So far this season, up to today's race, Ferrari have given Kimi the opportunity to be right up there with Seb, and he hasn't delivered at anything like the same level. Basically, he's been the creator of his own downfall!

(And I say all of that, despite how it might appear, as someone who actually loves Kimi and his whole persona - He should have done a better job so far in 2017!)
