I can't believe that anyone thinks Ferrari doesn't know exactly where their drivers will come out of the pits. Since the invention of the stopwatch this has been a no brainer.

I have not seen the race unfortunately. But do I get it right: Ferrari was called stupid for not telling Kimi to get out of the way a few races ago instead of giving clear Team Order; now as they did after Mercedes making the first move obviously prefering Lewis over Bottas they are called stupid again??? It seems that some guys change their opinion every weekend.

This is exactly my point. Vettel won because he was faster, not because they made Kimi slower.

If Kimi drove faster he would have won under the exact same pit strategy.

Each driver has his own strategy. No one radioed Kimi and told him to slow down or let Vettel pass him. THAT would have been team orders.

Teams make strategic moves all the time and they change depending on the situations given to them. We see this every weekend -- and no one calls that "team orders".

No. Sorry but it's not possible. Or so unlikely that we would have to believe Vettel has one of the worst strings of DNF's ever.

Vettel has been faster this year consistently -- practice, qualifying, and in races. Monaco is an exception but not the pattern.

Kimi was told to come in per the Autosport link. His own words. Simple.

Absolutely right. As if merc will let bottas win the championship this year over elton..... they'd drown in the tears and have him retire as soon as he was behind too far, leaving them driverless

+1 I remember plenty of Schumacher years when he was very much behind in points (to the leader, not teammate) and still won the title, a slow start can be overcome.

That said I have to say, my money IS on Vettel regardless as he's just more consistent. I just hope that Ferrari has such a gap later in the season they can repay Kimi giving him some wins.

+1, if you know it, and I know it, and Sky pundits know it...why are Ferrari playing dumb?

I'm guessing because as far as they are concerned, it was a happy occurrence following normal team protocol, they were racing bottas, not elton, yesterday, so the driver in front gets the first pit as always. The overcut makes it a non conversation outside of team walls.

It's hard to tell the difference between pissed off Kimi and happy Kimi and anything in-between Kimi. My guess is he'll be happy to climb back into a super competitive car in Canada. Next topic?

Ferrari telling Kimi to move over is blatant team orders...doing the same thing with pit strategy is non blatant team orders....but team orders all the same. Kim's body language post race was not due to Seb beating him...it was due to Ferrari not allowing him to beat Seb. Kimi has done this before and being the team player and gentleman that he is, he will do the same again if told to...but obviously he won't be psyched about it. Kimi and Seb are close friends. They're won't be any rifts between them. Ferrari achieved exactly what they wanted in Monaco. Forza! Hoping for more Ferrari 1, 2's!

Looking forward to hearing the full Monty later this week..

Seb was catching Kimi , but of course impossible to pass, so they ordered Kimi to pit, which he questioned.Ferrari must have known that Kimi would be compromised by coming out in traffic but their main goal was to get Vettel in front of him so Kimi was royally shafted. All the talk about Bottas pitting and Ferrari having to react is convenient. bs.They would have brought Kimi in regardless.

Yes Seb was faster in the race, but Kimi put it on pole fair and square,he deserved to fight for the win on merit.

Kimi looked like he was chewing a wasp on the podium, not surprised!I hope he can repeat his pole in Canada and take a win.

Max is totally fed up of course,i still think he will be in a red car next year!Ricci was very happy not to get screwed by his pit team this year.

So, Vettel was faster and if Kimi was faster than Vettel Kimi would have won the race.

But he wasn't so he came in second.

    Got it.

its very simple, lap 30 onwards kimi is doing 1.17 then max and bottas pits ric do 2 consecutive fastest lap in the 1.16 while kimi still lingering in the 1.17 holding up vettel as well

staying out there longer put both cars in a bad situation thus they pit kimi then only kimi can match ric's time

the rest is vettel did 2 insane laps and get him the win so all in all kimi is just slow

Exactly! If Kimi was faster Kimi would have beaten Vettel. But he wasn't.

Who's fault is that? The team????

Also, they pitted both drivers--->advantage Vettel due to his speed, before a VSC or SC would eventually come out. Both on tyres that lasted well to the end of the race. Ferrari made the right call all the way around.

It's pretty obvious that Kimi wanted to stay out ..he was leading the Monaco Gp almost at half point after qualifying on pole.Maybe Vettel was faster ,but it's another thing to be able to pass Kimi on the track.

Their tyres had gone into a low grip phase, and the reaction was to bottas and max. If they got that wrong, we could have lost the 1-2, let alone our drivers get swapped. With only one tyre change, it meant provided bottas and max had pitted, it showed Ricci would too, and they HAD to get their pit out the way, rather than risk staying out and awaiting a safety car, while bottas circulated at over a second a lap, maybe even two, quicker on new tyres. The call was inevitable, and the result, one of those things

A safety car period does not always give you a free pit stop, sometimes if it comes out it ****s you by catching you at the wrong time
