Seriously... kudos to Seb. Whether you like him or think him a hack... he invests a lot of time and energy to learning about the car and the tires. I read that he even visited the Pirelli factory at one point to get a better understanding of the tires. While others were too busy to be bothered with tire testing, Seb jumped at the chance. Now Merc is complaining? Maybe Toto should question why Lewis wasn't involved. RB should ask the same of their drivers.

Pirelli president Tronchetti Provera has strongly denied the tyre manufacturer are favouring Ferrari following Toto Wolff's "Italian mystery" dig at the Monaco Grand Prix.

Ferrari inflicted a lot of damage in Monte Carlo with a 1-2 finish while both Silver Arrows drivers were off the podium.

Lewis Hamilton in particular was off the boil and, as the debrief began, Wolff said: "“I had a short chat with him [Lewis] after the race and said: 'do you felt the grip was back?' and he said: 'the grip was back'.

"Why that is, it remains an Italian mystery."

Provera, though, has insisted that Ferrari's strong start to the season is down to nothing more than hard work on the Scuderia's part.

“The tyres are the same for everyone," said Provera.

"Perhaps Mercedes, have been used to lots of success and now face an uphill task, but they will come back.

"However, with engineers that have worked like a team, Ferrari has done something that no-one expected. You have to give them credit and you have to be satisfied by the work of an Italian team.”

Provera also suggested that Vettel is getting his just rewards for always making himself available to test the tyres while others continue to reject the chance.

“It was a very serious piece of work on the part of Vettel and Ferrari,” added Provera.

“Vettel was always ready with humilty, to test when others were ‘not available’ and the results are the fruit of a lot of passionate work from a team that is totally focussed on winning.”

Vettel is the hardest working guy in the business. I'll take everyone back to 2010...Vettel is the freshly crowned world champion, youngest ever I remind you. After a long season (the longest ever at the time in fact), you expect a young guy working for a company known for their party lifestyle, to have some well deserved time off and party with his friends and whatnot. Everyone else did...After his duties, accepting of trophies, visiting the sponsors, he didn't jet off to the Caribbean, or chartered a yacht for him and his friends....nope. Vettel went to Italy to meet with Pirelli (F1 switched from Bridgestone to Pirelli for 2011) and just talked about the tires, what their characteristics where like, construction, weight...he went back several times. You'd expect his chief rivals to do the same....but nope, they didn't. No one did, in fact. Vettel is the only guy that went, and went back several times. Didn't even drive a single inch on them, just wanted to understand everything.

It's the same in the garage, whether it was Toro Rosso, Red Bull or now Ferrari...he knows everything inside and out, he knows the team members, their families...everything. He dedicates everything he can to improve performance. He's never the first to leave the paddock, most times Horner and now Maurizio have to force him to leave.

He's the hardest working guy since Schumacher, who of course set the benchmark back in his day and that paid of rather well.

What was the quote from Hamiton's engineer right before his first flying lap in Q2? I believe it was close to "Don't back off too far here"...then he **** the bed. He let the tires cool down or never got them to temp.

Bottas must have to sacrifice a chicken to get his tires to work on his Merc...

Sounds like more of the same to me as last year. Hamilton couldn't launch the car - a process which required meticulous analysis and discipline, rather than raw talent. This year Bottas can make his tires work because he is hard working and detail oriented. Hamilton can't, and has been complaining about the tires all season.

I don't see what the mystery is here.

Don't forget 'his music', and of course, many hours preening and posing for his selfies. How can anyone expect him to put more driving practice and race planning into that tough schedule, is he not punishing himself enough for his sport? Hehehehe. What a tool

SO again we see the lack of technical ability with LH. Smarter harder working drivers wining titles vs LH who is too busy questioning the pitwall and using Instagram LOL. There is a good reason Nico won last year....as you allude to above. LH is not a great F1 driver unless the car is perfect. He and Kimi has the smallest operating window on the grid it seems.

I don't know who is more gifted in that department, I know Kimi is very intelligent on the technical front and obviously natural speed is still fantastic. Doesn't spend a minute more than necessary though ;). I admire both work ethics.
