Neither will be true collector pieces so buy the one you prefer.

Historically, the 5711 is the favorite, harder to get and holds its value better.

Other people like the complications and 'messy' or unbalanced dial layout of the 5712.

Nautilus 5711 vs 5712 - Rolex Forums - Rolex Watch Forum

I own and prefer the 5711. Its one of my favorites.

But you can not go wrong with either choice.

Yep would be my first Patek so it would be cool to have some complications. Not sure about numbers made but it seems like 5711 has a way longer waiting list!

Thanks for the link, beautiful watch you have!

I love the simplicity of the 5711 too but also like the complications in the 5712. I am leaning towards 5712 at this point since it seems like the wait isnt as bad

Nautilus is one of the most comfortable, well made watches - you will love whatever one you choose...

I don't think anyone has mentioned it yet on this thread; the Tiffany stamped Patek is a small way to acknowledge the once important distribution relationship between the two entities, be unique in a room that may have more than one Nautilus in it and having that stamp has helped me "lose less/sell faster".

Some people care and some don't, but if you check out a site like Chrono24, out of thousands of Pateks for sale there may not even be one Tiffany stamped. Downside is the wait list and full retail price.

Must have been the big toe!

Congrats. I've been edging around acquiring a 5004, only because I really like the look of the arabic numerals. What beautiful gems these all are.

Trade you my right arm for that 5131.

Think of it as having a spare wrist in case you loose or break one of your own!

You know, that first gen 5270G is nicest version out of all the 5270's.
It's just so well balanced and clear and discreet.

    Nice collection.

Good eye to be able to recognize the 5270 is the very first generation. Agreed, it looks the nicest.

    Very nice.

The 5980 blue face was my everyday watch since I bought it in 2008. So elegant and yet sporty. Decided to sell it to a close friend after my 5976G arrived. It's a bigger version and also blue face. Now my 5990 is my everyday watch. Love the nautilus

I am waiting for my 5990! Does it bug you that the "Patek" is in the lower half?

Not really. Didn't really notice it. The dual time is a great function for me since I travel quite a bit.
