Marcello Gandini was asked by Ruoteclassiche to design the cover of May's issue, and guess what? He chose to designe a Countach!!!

i think the one that spent money in the musem, cars etc... was and still is Tonino. so he is probably the man that decides almost anything in the family museum

This is for sure the case, a very honorful person. btw, on the day Tonino is 20 years older than me, means our birthday is both the 14th October.

My former Ms Chianti looks awesome, the only thing I expected from the Video with Vale were some details about GLA12997, his personal story is of course well known.

Separately, he has documented the car, and its factory specification for us.

Today Olympic Gold medalist and six (6) times World Boxing Champion Ray Leonard paid GLA12997 a visit and tried it out for size.

I'd say it fits him like ... a glove!

In case anyone is wondering whether this was staged, our families are longtime friends and we see each other quite often http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/145409234-post2570.html , so although not planned, this visit was long overdue.

Ray hasn't ever owned a Countach, yet, although there's been a Ferrari 512 BBi and a pair of Testarossas in the distant past when those cars were new.

Thank you Rob and Joe, was great to see so much Countach coverage in one edition for no particular reason and a good antidote to the massive F car exposure in its 70th year , not that I am complaining as I love Ferraris and have just returned from an epic continental trip in a friends 575 where we drove though France and Switzerland to Italy.

The Schumph museum was great and overwhelming and a must for any classic car fan as its is staggering in size and scope.

We also went to the Lamborghini factory and museum and then to the Ferruccio Lamborghini museum ( which was great and re-refreshingly non corporate ) and then the Ferrari factory museum and Enzo museum as well as abut 10 Ferrari/Lamborghini shops in Maranello, and went to dinner with a British Ferrari factory engineer and Brenda , Enzo's long time secretary , all in one day!

Incidentally I picked up a photo copy of the original LP400 build sheet all written out in free hand which was really nice.

I also visited the Bob Wallace memorial sculpture which was somewhat poignant for me. I did doff my hat and say "thank you" .

We also watched the scrutineering of the Mille Miglia cars in Brescia and then watched the 350 plus cars as well as the 300 odd Ferraris pass in Desenzano which is a wonderful place and perfect for this as its beautiful and sits on the shore of Lake Garde.

Love that wine/plum colour on the QV . Sorry this is a bit off topic . S

And for a dedicated fight fan like me getting to know him 25 years ago was one of my life's more interesting coincidences.

FWIW the car's color is what dictated the winery location for the Classic & Sports Car magazine article shoot.

Meanwhile good to see you still enjoying that LP400 after so many years, and flying the flag for the marque too Stephen!

When you say dusty from Valentino's braking, are you saying that is "brake" matter on the rims? :O
