Actually, this is one of the jigs Mimran had them build circa 1981 (when this image was taken) for the Countach with taller dimensions from LP400S onwards. It was based off the original jig which I presume Gian Carlo Guerra's designed to standardize Countach production from LP400 to LP400S2. Guerra was key in Countach production and of course as Stanzani brought him over from Scaglietti for the sole purpose of manufacturing the cars in-house, as opposed to outsourcing their build with Bertone as was done in the era of the Miura. When you look at pictures of how the body was assembled, you can see clearly why the Countach production was limited and the wait time for getting one could be so long. It's an amazing car on so many levels. Incredible work Daniel.
Guerra was still at Lamborghini in 1981. He left several years later when persuaded by Claudio Zampolli to create the Cizeta prototype.
Yes I'm aware. The original Guerra jig for the LP400 was not as sturdy as the one Mimran instructed them to build when he set about re-structuring the company after he purchased it
The chassis and the body panels where not very precisly produced. During the meassuring of the chassis and panels we have found a lot of imperfections. For example the right and the left front fenders are asymmetrical. The difference is almost 10mm. We found the same difference on the 83 5000S, the 85 DD and the 87 FI. On the pictures are the details of the 85 Countach DD Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
From what we can see in this Picture: Jaguar Type E, Countach, Porsche 911, I think you can soon Change the work of your Company to car restoration.
The separation of the "car restoration department" from my machine building business is already in progress
Great idea, with the hour rates you are very competitive, and obviously also with the skills of your workers.
Daniel/guys/gals, this may be old news (sorry if it is), but is new to me and seemed like a great find that I should share... The company are near to me in the USA, and I'm happy to act as a liaison or receiver if it helps anyone out. I am not connected with them, and cannot endorse their work, but it seems worth an enquiry at least for people who like details on interiors on Countachs during restorations at least. I'll be speaking to them myself in the New Year... Lamborghini K9
Yes, the Right side of the countach is different also on the rear quarter panel is 10 mm more than the left side of auto and door also different length, the oem wooden bulk plug was hand labor, it was to late to redo the wooden plug and master plug for the metal tool & die patterns had to be made, production had to move forward in the 1960,s this was the narrow body and later came the new wide body as you know around 1979 I believe ,and wider body width would allow for the extra wide wheels & tires for the rear back for traction. I believe the early lower side skirt rocker panel is different also ...the 1960,s old style is 30.5 cm in curvature and the newer 1979-1986 style 33 cm curvature ? I would like also to know if the actual height measure of the rear view window glass ? any help on this is appreciated. Very Excellent Craftsmanship !
Due to the number of projects we are currently working on the FI car was a bit delayed. Bur the preparation for the paint is also a very time consuming job. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
