Exactly what I thought. I knew something was up. Eitehr the Buyer backed out of his offer and tried to low Ball, or Buyer had trade ins that where not as decribed.

Thanks for setting the story straight Danny. I had a feeling it was either the buyer tried to offer lower than agreed or they had trade in not as described. I have refused to sell to someone in a similar situation as you. Its not worth time, or money to deal with people like this.

    Good job Danny,

    Take care.

Very well put together response, Danny.
Sad to see Ruffnut try to take advantage if that is the case.

Hopefully both sides get the cars they desire in the end.

    Hey life goes on...

Ruffnut - Money does not buy all things, it buys alot of things but not all things.

EMMW - I totally agree with what you did. If the feeling is not right its not right.. Nothing to it. There will always be another buyer, and I respect the fact that you can walk away from a deal and not lose sleep.

Hopefully everyone can take a good lesson from this and be courteous to others whoever you are.

Danny I don't hv time for this either..but few hard questions for ya since the objective here is the car not me and you..I'm just giving advice to do due diligence to any party before handing over their hard earned $$...
After I questioned the carfax, have you had it changed in the last two weeks since my post?
Who owned this car last 3yrs as he doesn't come up as an owner? (It's not really a 2 owner car correct?)
And why remove the car from your site and now back with higher asking price..is this related to my first question?
And again you taking 2 weeks to respond related to the carfax at all?

Every story has 2 sides, I'm glad the dealer responded and the public can be the judge.

this is basically liberals jumping all over any flash (fake) headline news about Trump with knee jerk reactions to later actually getting all the facts and making an informed opinion (if said liberals are mentally competent)

I knew this story didn't add up. The car seams like a nice car and the dealer is well known. Why would anyone turn down a full price offer? Cheers to Danny for turning down a sale on principle! I'd be inclined to buy a car from him in the future based on this story alone.

+1. I like to support those who stand up for themselves, don't cower to money, hold to their ethics, tired of those who concede and cater/cave in to pacify unruly customers that only emboldens them to repeat that behavior. That was also a well-written retort Danny.

Fwiw Carfax is complete crap and PPI is where it's at.

I've seen carfax be incorrect so many times. Love it when accidents show up in carfax AFTER you buy a car.

.....accidents however show up right away in PPI.

Lesson, don't use Carfax as sign of a good car, or a bad one. It's just plain inaccurate.

Is this going to turn into "one of those" posts?

Ruffinit has a join date of 12-15-13 and total of 5 posts to date, (four are on this blog and one 6-7-14). My personal experience here has been that the OP in these situations has some kind of axe to grind especially when it is their only posts.

Yes, there is always two sides to any story and all readers will find one story more believable. But my question is why would OP post now after not posting for years, if he does not have some other motive? My thoughts are consider the OP motivation and also those of EMMW (Danny Baker). One is on the attack and the other is merely defending a position. No money exchanged hands so Danny is just out his time, if anyone is injured it is certainly not OP.

I know which position seems the most logical and credible to me.

Im with Danny on this one , by not selling him the car. I think you saved yourself some headaches and hassle from the OP. I think the OP was trying to take advantage of the situation. But next time do yourself a favor, I have sold 100's of cars. Have your client take his car to Carmax and get a written offer prior to you driving 6 hrs roundtrip. It would have eliminated any unknowns and they become the bad guy. Or you can also have them deliver the car to a Manheim or Adesa auction and have them do a CR. Remember you are buying there car with real money just as they are buying your car and you should treat it as such. Just my opinion. great looking 458 BTW , I once sold a CGT to Lambo OC and there driver cracked the front carbon fiber spoiler loading the car onto there truck and he tried to blame me. Fortunately I had filmed the whole incident prior to them loading the car. Videos can help remembering the truth very quickly.

Ya know its funny you say that because I bet 90% of us bought a new Ferrari without ever driving one and had no issues at all with the idea. I bought 3 and one Maserati without ever driving them.

So why do we need to drive a car with 2000 miles on it? Its... new!

I'm not against test driving but the idea at times does seem a bit silly given the mileage most of these have.

I agree , never let someone test drive a sports car , they can drive it all they want after they pay for it. You can do a road test after they pay for it , and if they do not like it , then you can offer them a refund assuming no damage. Im sure if someone is selling you a La Ferrari for $50 grand would you pass on it if you were not allowed to test drive it.
I just saw this not sure if comes up but a guy was test driving a 911 Turbo , and crashed it , how are you going to explain it to the next customer who wants to look at it.

Could've told you this story didn't add up when the OP suggested the presence of his family scared the seller out of selling 'something fishy.' I always find it very sad that someone with such ethics can be lucky enough to acquire one of these amazing automobiles, though I do find respite in the fact that they usually lose it at some point.

Yes. I write checks with my beautiful Pelikan fountain pen, using cursive (Palmer method) that I learned from the Sisters of St Francis. People like them.

I also use cash, including new, uncirculated, sequential serial number $2.00 bills. People like them.

Unbelievable! I doubt that we'll be seeing Ruffinit or dreamin anytime soon...but then again, some people truly have no shame.

Good thing Danny chimed in here and prevented his reputation from being sullied by these guys who play fast and loose with the facts...
