There is no single magazine / book with the correct history on 0856! (not even Cavallino, Alan Boe article)

Please enlighten yourself regarding all things p3 and P4 and specifically 0846. Please refer yourself to the 0846 debate thread where in the last year photographic evidence has been brought to support steves findings. Until then you are just talking crap and derailing this thread which is about a completely different car

I think everyone had the history wrong, due to Ferrari painting it to look like the 1967 Daytona winner.

Dick Wilkins was a stockbroker. Perhaps it has been incorrectly reported that he was a doctor as he looked after Mike Parkes and made sure he got the best medical attention when he broke his legs at Spa 1967?????

Paul, do you have more information about that pulbication? Number of pages, pictures, publisher etc? Thanks! I collect books about collections and allthough I have numerous magazine articles about Obrist's cars, a book solely dedicated is even better.

That is not a book but rather a softbound publication done by the Japanese Nomura Bank who tried to find financiers for the Obrist Collection in 1989/1990/1991.

There is, however, a limited edition hardbound book which Albert Obrist had produced for his friends and the cover was designed by Swiss metal sculptor Jean Tinguely. I understand they printed 300 copies only at a cost of Swiss Francs 1'000 each. The book has 208 pages. Each book is signed and individually numbered. The book contains all cars of the Obrist collection with photos by Swiss photographer Peter Vann.

Steve, as I am sure you know . David Clarke did drive his P2/3 # 0826 on the road. It was registered 4PH and had some discreet mods, such as an improvised handbrake, to get it through the MOT test. He wrote about this in Road & Track and the UK FOC magazine.

I have not seen the P4 with number plates although David regularly took it to the FOC concours. In another article he contrasted the very flexible 365 engine with the 330 inthe P4, which was far less driveable at lower speeds.

By coincidence Thoroughbred & Classic Cars Vol.2 No.10 is on my desk with a pic of P2/3 0826 with the plate 4 PH on the cover with P4 0856 next to it. There was a feature about David Clarke and Graypaul Motors inside. I had this mag when I was a kid. Perhaps David preferred using the the P2/3 on the road for the reasons you stated and it was just Dick Wilkins who used 0856 on the road with the plate as pictured above XPJ 86G?
