2005 Ferrari 612 I can't get my engine to stay running. Seems to be a fuel problem. If I spray starting fluid in the intake, the engine fires up for a brief moment then shuts down. I don't seem to be getting any pulse at the injectors, what should my next step be to check? Is there something the injectors get their trigger from that I'm missing-bad sensor? I unfortunately can't find any wiring diagrams on this. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks guys, fuel pump and ground strap have been confirmed ok. Cam phase sensor was swapped out just to rule it out...still same results. I'm starting to suspect ecu not giving signal to injector harness. If anyone has a wiring diagram, that would be greatly appreciated!
More detail as to the last few events before failure might clear the crystal ball a little...........
+612 ... like did it suddenly go from ticking over like a well oiled machine to not working at all? When was it last serviced by a Ferrari dealer?
If there is spark, then the phase and RPM sensors are good. The injection is triggered by the spark event. So if there is a spark, then there should also be injection pulse. The ECU grounds the injectors, so if they are not firing, then they might not have power. If the ECU goes into protection mode, then it will shut off the injectors even though there is spark. What happened with the car? Was it running fine and just stopped, or is there more to the story? Have you downloaded the fault memory from the motronic ECUs?
Thanks for all the input guys, can't seem to be getting far. I'm going to have to take it to a shop and have Diagnostics done. Is there any advantage to taking it to a private specialist over the dealer? And what sort of costs or labor rates are normal for this kind of issue? Fyi I'm located in Eastern PA if you can recomend any reputable shops.
Not being smart a$$, but how long is this piece of string? Impossible to quote on this, I certainly would tell my customer to expect at least 2 hours for initial diagnosis and scan, cost can go up or down from that......... Honestly, a trusted independent might be more flexible, but a dealer more familiar with the issue (plus the ability to contact their tech rep @ FCNA). Certainly cannot expect us to shake the crystal ball from the limited info you have shared thus far. Good luck.
