Stumbling, mumbling or fumbling, he put himself in a position to score points and that's what he did. That's the way racing works sometimes.
Not a bad day for Stroll, cannot say the same for Palmer, why is Renault wasting a good seat on this guy, pull the plug and put someone else in.
It is only a matter of time before he gets to out qualify Massa inside the top 10 ,then we will see how he handles it. As an 18 tr old rookie he is mixing it with the 'best drivers in the world'. It is a very steep learning curve,i think he will be in F1 for a looong time.
Ill take that bet. He will be gone before he's 22 and currently cant hold Massa's jock. Dude didnt make it out of Q1 lol
His driving in Montreal was dreadful. He had a car good enough to finish 3rd. Instead he stumbled into 9th and fluked 2 points. Big deal. He's still just as hopeless as Palmer.
Yes that car is capable of a lot more agreed. However i did not see any dreadful driving,i saw him going wheel to wheel with the Hulk,Alonso,Stubble,Palmer,Kevin Mag and maybe a few more, obviously with a faster car. It looks like he is correcting his steering constantly through almost all the corners, don't know if this is his driving style at the moment or is the car a bit of a handful?
There appears to be a comfort factor missing in his driving. In a way he appears to 'not be ahead' of the car and reacting at the moment.
LOL well Felipe is what 37? Lance is 18.Felipe will most likely retire again this year or next year at the very latest. So their time as team mates will be short,Lance is not ready to be the lead driver right now ,so Williams need to bring in a top driver in 2018, as the car is already very good. Anyhow in 10 years Lance will be 28,he has a whole lot of possibilities ahead of him. Werewolf is too big a gamble i think, who else might be available for 2018?
Are you ****ing serious?! Stroll is fist fighting with the car. His lap times are all over the place. He has shown not a bit of talent yet. He is one of the worst rookies of the last 10 years. Massa is a vice-champion, 11 wins, raced on par with Schumacer.. Do you really think that Stroll has any chance against him?
I reckon he has a chance to match Felipe eventually,by the end of this year.If he can do that it would be a big achievement, even though Felipe is in the twilight of his racing career.
Not sure if he'll be out of F1, we see other guys like Palmer, Ericsson still in after too long as well. As long as daddy pays he'll be there. Will he actually have any speed in that time? I very much doubt it . +1! +1 Exactly. On the back straight, he was alongside if not a bit ahead of Vandoorne...and he braked so damn early and just didn't have the balls to complete the overtaking move. Didn't happen once, either...happened all the time. He has zero confidence in driving, overtaking, anything. If it wasn't for Sainz taking out Massa and ruining Grosjean's race, Verstappen DNF he'd still be well out of the points. I have to say I've never seen a driver in F1 be so scared of overtaking. Never. Not talking about one offs, about drivers they know to be unpredictable so they take more care.
I think Lance was trying to ensure he didnt crash during an overtake,so he just waited for the best moment, and it came to him eventually, no heroics ,just bring it home. I realise that pretty much 90+% of the playmates here on F Chat fully expected him to crash out, again. Not to forget this was his first race ever at his 'home' circuit!
Why rush things? He knows he has a car with significantly superior straight line speed. Why risk everything in the heat of the moment in one lap if you know you'll sail past the next? Sounds like driving with the brain switched on. Do you think he could have challenged the Hulk or the Ferraris? I don't think so. For his pace he maximized the outcome. He sure can improve tremendously on the pace but that is not what this is about. Look at the likes of Sainz. That's the opposite once again. Completely unaware of what he is doing, turning himself into a Kamikaze bomber. Not for the first time this season.
Just what I expected, Stroll finally has a good race, and the nay sayers still crap all over him. You nay sayers are pathetic. Go find that schoolyard I recommended before so you can hang out with your intellectual peers.
Stroll didn't have a good race. He had a good finish and a race without bad luck and without incidents. Where could Massa have brought the car home? Possibly P3? Lance was far from being able to achieve that. I agree with you, that his thread is relatively hopeless, as the likes of Bas just wait to find any opportunity to bash Stroll. Still, that didn't make his drive good and it even less justifies calling people pathetic.
In accordance with the published guidelines for the http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/495700-enforcement-rules-f1-forum.html, a 1-month ban has been applied for personal attacks. All the best, Andrew.
He is not a good driver and doesn't deserve to be there. Simple question: would he be there without daddy's money? No. Everyone made fun of Maldonado for years but he was a race winner, GP2 champion and fast driver. Stroll is way out of his element. Old man Massa is taking him to school. Not happening.
I just call it as I see it. He looked deeply uncomfortable, had zero balls overtaking, and just looks uncomfortable driving. Had he cleared the guys quicker he may have had a better shot at coming close to Hulkenberg. Raikkonen had issues, who knows if they happened 5 laps earlier, Hulk would've passed him anyways, and if Stroll would've been closer, so would he...So there is reason to try and clear traffic quicker. Shame about the intellectual line. Can't have it both ways, I'm bashing but you're saying he didn't have a good race... We don't have a thread about Palmer or Ericsson, presumably because they're not that interesting and the way they came into F1 was different. I've been pretty damn vocal about Ericsson and his lack of ability over the past 3 years but no one gives a **** about that? Just before someone accuses me, I didn't press the report button.
