Supposedly these are the best drivers in the world, but the best drivers in the world should be capable of calculating whether they can really make the move cleanly, and if not, how to blend in one place back instead. It's not good enough to just state 'I left some space' and be aloof, he drove over the ferrari front wing, so he didn't give enough space, where was vettel to go?, over bottles wing too?

Brake early and such things. Even Vettel didn't put the blame at Verstappen...Normally he berates him at every opportunity ;).

Max thinks he can go three abreast everywhere when there's just space for max 2 tits him included.
Excluding reliability issues he's starting to look a bit out of his dept recently IMO.

Agree, he's very good but no Jean Alesi, and Jean also made a few mistakes when he was young...

    Everything's a "racing incident"

I'm just saying that there are people who watch hockey for the fighting, others for the stick play. I'm the latter. I don't want crashes and reckless behavior that jeopardizes the races of those around you. This attitude that I'm just going to shove my 10 pounds of car in this 7 pound sack and everyone around me will have to deal with it because my front wheel is 2 inches in front of yours just leaves me a bit disappointed and mystified. Track position relative to the first corner and your speed have some say in that. There was no where for Vettel or anyone else to go. So Max created that issue. He inserted himself there and while he may have had room, he took away safe and clear trajectories for those around him... that's the type of driving that irks me a bit. Whether it's someone hauling ass up the inside with absolutely no hope making a 90 degree inside right turn and clipping the outside car... you can't just say... "well.. i was ahead and they should have yielded" when there's nowhere for anyone to go. There has to be a bit of respect out there and these super aggressive moves... while I love them... ought to be better calculated.

Exactly. But when you're 19, you know everything and all those other old, washed up, has beens should just get out of his way to greatness. Didn't you get the memo? Everyone is entitled. No one thinks patience is required for success. Now, now, now, me, me, me.

Senna mentality. Some like it some don't. Personally I think you can race fair without creating a situation where people yield to you or there's a crash all the time.

Vettel and Hamilton had good starts, Max just had a better one. No one is at fault.

Having made a pretty aggressive pass (on Ocon) of his own, perhaps Vettel figured he'd remain silent on Max...this time.

Some drivers think they are entitled to pass another car, whatever the consequences, and then blame the other driver for not letting them through.

In the case of Senna, he thought it was his divine right, hence ....

Aggressive, but I didn't see any contact, and it wasn't three abreast in a two lane corner either. Max needs to calm it a bit, recognise when either he or someone else won't make it, and he will be a more consistent racer and better driver, then the championships will come. Let's face it, would you lay a bet on his results over a season? I wouldn't, he is up down and all around every other week. That's a fast driver, but it ain't a clever one. Clever drivers win more championships than lucky ones, and only dominant cars make up for the thickos (elton had three championships, one by luck and glock cheating, two with a dominant car)

Vettel was extremely clever and thoughtful about his four championships with red bull, he worked out exactly how to get the end result right, and took his chances accordingly and in a measured way, just like Michael, and ayrton. While ayrton was not averse to a dive up the inside, the drivers around him were more professional than some of the pay driver rubbish we have now, and he rarely did it with no idea whether he would crash or not, unless he purposely decided to crash a la Prost

    Yep.

Given time, Max will calm down and understand that a race can be decided at the first corner, but it also likely to be lost there.

Lol....yes, he did kind of throw himself into that one without regard to Ocon. Ocon did a good job of taking evasive action and keeping his head. Very impressive young driver.

Max is a punk landscaper. But this time was justice in that he blew his engine for all his bravado. He crammed his lawnmower into the Senna hairpin, right across Seb's wing. At least this time he didn't cut the chicane and go agricultural. I would dare to say his start wasn't all that much better than the leaders. He tried to out brake them and found no room where he wanted it. If your car is 3 rows back, do you really think you can jump those rows and keep it for the entire race, right at the start? The damage to Vettel's wing pushed him back too far. But he still got points. Max DNF. Even when Kimi used the runoff after losing brakes he gave the position back. Max did no such thing last year in Mexico (Agricola ;) ). Kimi takes time for a meet and greet with a young boy after he crashed. That's class. Max has overspent his new found fame.

And with the famous crash between Senna and Prost where Senna continues through the escape route at Suzuka? Senna was clearly at an advantage and made no foul using the escape. They were entering a low speed chicane, Prost left too much room, Senna out braked him and took the inside line. Something you can do on a low speed corner. Prost realized his mistake and turned into him, well before his usual line that is evident from all the analysis, including his earlier laps. That was just plain rotten. You could say Max tried something similar to Prost, because he was on the wrong line (outside). Does he think he can make Vettel or Hamilton "blink" with his young awesomeness? I think not. I wonder if the red tires would have lasted?

I hope so. He looked like an a$$. I'm originally from Mexico, and still consider him overhyped. Yes, he's consistent, but a mediocre driver with the ego of a great one. And only still there because of Slim's money. He was significantly slower than Ocon, so even without team orders, he should have let him pass.

For once, I think Buxton did great, putting Perez in his place. Ocon was a class act, and I predict will do much better than Perez in the future.

Overall, a good show by the Mary Kays. The fact that they were squabbling a bit is normal. They are F1 race drivers. Besides, their little battle made it possible for Vettel to get by. How can I complain!

Should be interesting when Sir Perez gets 'stuck behind' Ocon, which is a very high possibility.

Ocon can give him the finger, stick that in your sombrero!.

Perez knows that Ocon is the real deal and must be cr***ing himself already.

    I find that explanation strange.

Perez and Ocon compete against each other.

Why should Perez move over because Ocon has fresher tyres?

Does that also apply for any other driver who catches Perez with fresher tyres, or only for his team mate?

Is that a way to disguise team order on the radio?

Why can't Perez defend his position against Ocon, like he is supposed to do for anyone else?
