Call a dealer. Say you have an out of state Ferrari 430. state milage and condition etc. ask a ball park trade in value on a car they have in stock and advertised. That will tell you very fast, what your "car" is worth. I have done this a few times for customers, and the numbers are very surprising. 30-40k off retail seems to be the average.
And then leave a bad review on Yelp! because you don't like the offer. Because, you know, that's just what you do.
Sorry, I'm at page 2 on this thread so far, and so I may be jumping the gun, but you guys are actually leaving negative feedback for a dealership you haven't bought anything from, on the basis of your NON experience with buying ferraris of thinking their pricing is too high, while living in the USA where businesses are free to sell what they like, for how much they like, and buyer demand sets the costs, and now since the dealership bothered getting in touch with you, you think they owe you to prove what they paid for the car to justify their sale price, all for some donut that probably can't afford to buy it anyway, and even if he could, a good dealer will tell him to FO Okay, sounds good, you guys are cool. Nutters!
Jesus Christ, really? Have you ever been shopping? There are shops all over that sell the same stuff, and they all sell at different prices, that's the game sometimes. You are in another planet, you really are.... you haven't got cash for the ferrari, that's why you haven't bought one, and fantasising about buying one is fine until you start damaging the reputations of businesses in your bull**** 'search' for a car Ferraris are expensive, if you don't have cash, and don't want to finance it and have big payments, it's not for you. That's not the dealers fault, nor fchats.
A job and a clue is step one. If you put as much effort and time as you do with bs yelp reviews and delusional threads here, you'd be well on way to starter car. Ownership includes maintenance, insurance, taxes, etc. You are no way in hell in a position to buy one. Stop wasting our time, work like most, save sacrifice and maybe you'll do it. Your entitled attitude and baseless bs against businesses makes me think NFW. GL. There's not enough alcohol or therapy in the world to undo that- Sterling Archer Entitled is the new black- Jana
I stopped reading after this post but I'm glad I came back and took a look at everything else it has to offer! 5K on high end cars oh boy! Careful team he may give Fchat a bad review.
What I have mentioned is a general statement that might take place if the negotiation is going well. Certainly it is unlikely to take place in a soured situation. I placed calls to 3 different Fcar dealerships--2 on the west coast and 1 on the east coast. All 3 asked for the vin. Everywhere asked for the vin and wouldn't move forward without it, even when calling to ask for the nearest authorized collision repair center...that's what happened when I called FNA a few weeks ago.
I've BOUGHT over fifty super cars in the last twenty years, various marques, so I have a bit of experience. I have never been asked for the vin of any car I was getting a simple telephone 'idea' of value for, never. A dealer cant give a definite price on the phone to anyone, only an 'idea' of the ballpark, it then depends on seeing and examining the car and records. You must sound strange on the phone for them to be so coy Also, why on earth would they tell anyone, soured or sweet conversation, what they paid for a car, their profits are none of your business, you are buying a car, not a share in the business
I agree that their profits are theirs and none of anyone's business. It's a free market like you have mentioned, and they are free to price things anyway they like. The forces of the free market (hopefully left alone) will eventually normalize extreme prices. The nice thing about nowadays is the internet, where you can easily find other sellers. That really makes price gouging a little more difficult to do. Probably...I wonder what it is...maybe it's my voice. I really should just stick to e-mail and txt msg, but I always feel it's more personable to call. I'm sure I will never make it in a career of phone scamming.
Why not just accept you aren't really in the market for a ferrari and stop wasting the dealers time? They aren't fools, they can tell the difference in someone without a car ringing for a price guide on his 'pretend' car, and someone that actually has one to think of selling
Sometimes they do, but not always. Most times they will ask to see the car before even giving out a number. However asking for a ballpark number before heading up to look at a car in inventory, seems to work.
So make them an offer of what you feel is right. It doesn't matter what a bunch of strangers on the Web think.
5k profit? You're delusional. 5% maybe, 10% closer. Less volume, same overheads. Kill this thread. Fairytale time is over. "There's not enough alcohol or therapy in the world to undo that"- Sterling Archer "Entitled is the new black"- Jana
