Is it time for gun control in Washington?

FWIW, I doubt many home invasions are actually random - showing yourself to the victims is sending a message. Bet those dudes are known to the Falcon owner.

 

I can.

1) Large African population

2) Low socio-economic demographic with cheapest housing in Melbourne.

3) High youth unemployment.

4) Huge drug problems

I have fairly regular interaction with the local Police and several times in the last 18mths it has been with the Apex task force. On one occasion I sat with an Apex squad detective attending to an armed robbery 2 doors up from me. As we combed through footage from my security system his police radio was broadcasting the nights action........ car chases, gang fights, domestic violence, it was all happening. In the course of our conversation the detective said that there wouldn't be a day go by where they didn't pull a gun off somebody. Apparently there are more guns on the street now then there were before Port Arthur and the gun buy back - a sobering thought.
I also get pulled over by the Police all the time as I work till midnight and then drive home in a fairly expensive car that sticks out in the "bad lands" as I call the area. A few times the cops have said that they wanted to check that the car was being driven by the registered owner and not stolen as the registered address for the car isn't local. Once I was even pulled up by the SOG in an 4WD Builders Ute (!!!) They followed me for ages and we were the only cars around so it wasn't hard to spot. It got to the point where I thought I was going to be car jacked at the traffic lights, and it was a relief when they hit the lights and pulled me over. Turned out that they were driving around undercover trying to catch a gang of youths who were doing home invasions in the area. I stuck out so they had to check......

Sounds a bit dramatic I know; but all 100% true........ hence the "Bad Lands" tag for the Melton area.

 

Generally the are random as I understand it. The gangs walk around the area identifying targets of opportunity and pounce when they do.

A few years back I was working late at night in my locked building after we closed. I have the security monitor up showing the external cameras while I work. Saw some movement in the street and looked up to see this Teenage kid belting the crap out of the 4ft 10 Asian cleaning lady from the medical centre next door with a baseball bat. He was attempting to steal her car and she came out and surprised him so he pulled the bat out from under his coat and laid into the poor woman. Her husband came out of the clinic and he then became the focus of attention. I bolted to the front door to intervene and the kid took off as he saw me. The whole event took maybe a minute from start to finish, fortunately the 2 elderly cleaners were not seriously hurt. When I viewed the footage with the Police it was another crime of opportunity. The kid walked past and saw the old lady taking stuff from the clinic to her car. So he kept going and circled back in the dark and jumped in the car wehn she was inside, assuming the keys were in it. She came out and challenged him and then it was on.......

I've been in the Bad Lands for 33 years and it has always been rough; but over the last 5yrs or so it has gone from rough to downright dangerous.

 

Bloody hell mate, doesn't sound like it's going to get any better that's for sure.

 

Sounds like you guys need to ask for your guns and your citizenship back.

 

No, they need to start sending the thugs they catch back to Sudan. That's the only punishment they're scared of.

Interestingly, Sudanese community leaders have said this publicly. The PC left of course thinks it all our own fault.

 

What an insult to the innocent families who've lived through the horror of a home invasion by vicious teenage monsters who have zero concern about being caught - because the activist judiciary set them free again.

Crazy ****er shot them up, no one killed, except of course, the shooter.

And, tag on another workplace shooting the morning at UPS in San Francisco. 2 dead there.

Time for me to go buy those bullet proof vests and re-up my carry permit. Gonna go spend some time at the range to sharpen my off hand shooting skills just in case.

It's ****ing crazy, and it's not gonna get ANY better.
