Onboard telemetry showed Hamilton definitely, 100%, BRAKING in the acceleration zone.

So he is 6 points away from a ban, not 3?

    What am I missing?

They're also about to start the race back up. I know on the video games I'm tapping the brakes to heat back into them.

But braking in an acceleration zone is dangerous. All Lewis had to do was coast or just match the PC's pace after coming out of the corner. He was also nowhere near the PC.

Have you ever had someone brake right in front of you for no apparent reason while you were both executing a corner? It's a very dangerous and stupid thing to do.

"Steward bias", turning a blind eye to the instigator. Really ruins the sporting nature of F1. I hope some holds them accountable. They are not God.

Bingo! The steward(s) better deal with this. The PC is nowhere near and Lewis's excuse immediately after is indictment of his cover up and guilt.

Williams believe massa could have won the race if it wasn't for the failed damper. Boom.

That's not showing a mere tap on the brakes, but FULL brakes.

From 52km/hr I'd have thought that would bring an F1 car to a complete stop in about 10ft.

    Weird.

Assuming it's true Ham deserved a penalty as well.

    > Stewards examined Hamilton's car data in Vettel incident. Did not brake or lift off completely. Maintained more or less constant speed and behaved the same at that re-start at that point on the track as he did at the other two re-starts. Source: FIA

The lot of you tripping over each other trying to defend what VET did today is disgraceful. I'm a big VET fan and a huge Ferrari supporter, but I find no excuse for what VET did today. Using his car as a weapon on the track to get back to someone (it doesn't matter if it was Hamilton or someone you lot hate much less) he felt brake tasted him is inexcusable.

Whether that person did or did not brake test him (which is the case here according to the FIA's data), it is not an excuse to pull that nonsense.

Are people trying to justify and defend Vettel's actions? - Or are they simply saying that Hamilton also breached the rules and deserved a penalty as well?

(I suspect you'll find it's more a case of the latter of those two options!)

Yep during the race they showed the clip ONCE, became clear elton was full on the brakes and never showed it again. Teflon.
Yeah, if he had a hypothetically better engine! :D

Williams/Massa is right though, they where ahead of Stroll, then damper broke on the restart which allowed Ricciardo and Stroll through. Had it not broken he'd likely have stayed out ahead of either of them and won the damn thing.

  15. The call today on who was penalised or not was by Danny Sullivan, not Whiting.

Elton Ham-dashian will get his one way or another.

Vettel: Cool your jets bro and keep your head about you. Elton knows how to get under your skin. Don't let him. Elton is quite fragile and should be easily to mess with his psych.

Really. So they can't read the telemetry indications. Lewis braked and cut his speed by 50%. The race officials are only going to look dishonest by ignoring the evidence.

Crocodile tears. Very poor attempt at hiding your true intentions and sidetracking the discussion.

First of all, "we lot" did not actually excuse Seb and we admit he was wrong. What we are discussing is Lewis's wrongdoing. Seb's mistake does not excuse Lewis's mistake.

It's the latter, no one here really condones Vettel's actions, no one has said something of that ilk anyways...most saying that Vettel was wrong for that he did! Mr ID jumping to conclusions

Hamilton is pure teflon, he can do no wrong according to the FIA

Ferrari should FINE Vettel for blowing this race!!!!! What a bonehead move!

Ricciardo wins on ONE FANTASTIC PASS. Great to hear the Australian national anthem played for a change. But this shoe drinking thing has to stop already. ENOUGH.

What happened to Stroll the last 100 meters? Did he lift before the checkered flag? He ran a fine race but would have never passed Massa if Massa didn't have a problem.

KUDOS to Team Ferrari for getting Kimi back out.

BOTTAS should have been penalized for hitting Kimi.

and the worst of all --- WTF were Mercedes doing in the red flag to not put down his cowl support?
