I've said it before and I'll say it again - the FIA need to stay out of this and let it go. The only value in a review would be if there was merit in reducing Vettel's punishment, not increasing it. The last thing we need is to go back to the over regulated Max Mosley days. If the FIA and F1 take that route it will be a huge step backwards and open the sport up to clear accusations of manipulation. That is not needed...

Hahaha....Lewis even asked back then in an Interview whether the penalties go along with his skin colour. Certainly that is much better so Keep on with your Mission....

If Vettel gets a race ban, who will drive in his car?

IMHO the totally unnecessary move of Vettel should have received a harsher penalty.
EXCEPT THAT all questionable moves should be penalized fairly. If Vettel is now at risk of being banned for one race (for having lost all license points) it's because he got a 2 points penalty last year for "forcing Massa to go out of track". On the other hand Bottas got nothing for pushing Raikkonen into the wall. So the stewards decisions and the penalties are completely inconsistent and just trying to show some political balance between the teams, they have nothing to do with fairness and honestly enforcing rules.

No one is talking about Ferrari management in all this but they have to be mad as hell at Vettel. He costed them the race and now may cost him an entire race.

Not only did he do it but his actions and words following sound like a he's in complete denial. It's like he "doesn't get" what he did wrong.

That just puts more fuel in the FIA retaliation fire.

Did he not get a 10 second stop go penalty? Did that not ruin any chance of his winning the race? Trust me, he knows who is running the sport. Again, this is not a high school, and the FIA is not a headmaster. He took the punishment that was handed to him by officials according to their interpretations of the rules, and with which he does not agree with. What he states in public is his opinion, but he didn't ignore black flags like Schumacher in 94, for instance. There is no insubordination............

This is a sham. Vettel served his penalty. He didn't bring the sport into disrepute by ignoring the penalty. He didn't call Charlie or the FIA a **** in post race interviews. What is the point of this witch hunt. It just makes the Baku race officials look like clowns that need to be over ruled.

Having said that, what about if they consider the opposite strategy of punishment. What if they conclude that Ham did in fact drive erratically and that he deserves a penalty? Now wouldn't that throw the press and Ham haters into a comedic frenzy.

I agree, but Saward in particular has been vocal about Ferrari's late antipathy towards the media. It won't exactly help them now, as they may look for public support, and they won't be able to blame Vettel for that....

Apparently, disagreeing with people is a crime. Soon, he'll be accused of bullying.

Didn't Stroll just do the same thing to CW? Anyone see a common denominator in driver opinion? I don't think they're the only two with those feelings.

Yep, this knee-jerk reaction from Vettel may have very unfavourable outcome for Ferrari.

All Ferrari is interested in is gathering points, podiums and wins to possibly aim at the title(s).

Anything else is just unwanted distraction.

Rosberg would be my choice for poetic irony, Button could be possible.

+1 on yours and the Mayor post. I did post earlier but changed it. I think Ferrari are not priming the PR machine as Vettel was the only one digging this hole all by himself. IN fact this will give Ferrari leverage over him as they negotiate his new contract. Im also not convinced he is staying now at all. This opens many doors for Ferrari and for a 'team' person on the surface, Vettel does not at all look like a good team member.

    Both are not possible:

Rosberg is under contract with Mercedes as an official ambassador, and Button is under contract to McLaren.

In both cases, Ferrari would not want either of them near their team or car for fear of what they might learn, and neither Mercedes or McLaren would want to help Ferrari.

Let's be honest here: Had Vettel not banged wheels with Hamilton in Baku then by the Tuesday morning after the race, F1 would have been tucked back up in bed to lie dormant until next Thursday when the drivers start to talk about what happened in Baku, and what they think/hope will happen in Austria.

Instead, F1 is still making the headlines days later, it's still being talked about on all the sports websites, and more people will be tuning in to watch the Austrian GP than would have done otherwise (If the FIA don't give their feet both barrels of the 12 bore!)

I see Max Mosley has declared that Seb's actions were "Intolerable", and has declared that he should have been disqualified from the race: Sebastian Vettel's collision with Lewis Hamilton in Azerbaijan GP 'intolerable', says Max Mosley | F1 News

Perhaps Max could arrange for Seb to be punished with a spanking for being: "such a naughty boy!" - I believe he knows the right people, and they dress up as German's too! ;)

At least Giovanazi is under contract at Ferrari and with some (limited) experience in F1, having driven for Sauber during the 2 first races.

He looks the likely candidate for me, but I doubt that Vettel could be banned for one race.

If they ban Vettel is there going to be 2 Ferrari's on the grid anyway? If so they'll probably put Giovanazzi in and change everything they need or want to in the car (engine, gearbox etc etc) so that any kind of penalties won't be taken by Vettel later....
