Alonso at Ferrari would not make sense. Because he will split the GP wins with Vettel Therefore neither driver can win the WDC just my opinion just like McLaren 2007
Anyway, I hope Alonso will never drive for the Scuderia again. Ferrari needs new talents and has to stop looking in the past.
If Alonso goes to Renault, I think he has the power to include clauses in the contract that will allow him to race the 500 Indy and the 24 hours of Le Mans in case he has an opportunity.
If Alonso is willing to take a massive paycut, I could see the small chance Ferrari takes him (I still don't think they will). The image at Indy he demonstrated showed to the world that he's cooled off a bit from his earlier years, is fan-friendly, and is very vocal about his desire to win. We all know he's quick and if he's willing to drastically take a pay cut, I think Ferrari would be willing to go that route to try and beat Mercedes...only for 1 year and not long term commitment. Possible yes, but not at all probable...imo. That's the thing he can sell himself most on...he's still quick and willing to work for less than the other guys. He's already made 5 team changes in F1 with Renault and McLaren being repeats...with Minardi gone, I suppose he could make it a three-peat and go back to Ferrari. Minardi...then Renault, McLaren, Renault. Then Ferrari, McLaren, ______. I see a pattern.
Flavio + Alonso ..the dream team. They dragging too much baggage behind them. Can anyone imagine Alonso racing alongside Vettel? Guaranteed to end in tears.
There's a big IF in this...and it means Vettel leaving. He won't. There won't be any places to go, and he doesn't want to leave. Even if he leaves, Ferrari would be stupid not to give Verstappen the seat. Cars are developed during the season (before it), not in the few months without racing. Furthermore...the Red Bull was a good car, it just had a **** engine (lowest power and **** reliability). Vettel especially had loads of issues, often not race ending ones but enough to cause a significant power deficit to the rest. By the time it had became clear that he signed for Ferrari (and Red Bull knew well before the rest, of course), priority immediately shifted to Ricciardo (logical, of course!). Vettel is one of the most technical guys out there. His feedback is very much up there.
+1 For a guy that supposedly doesn't help develop the cars, it's strange he is the only driver to have visited Pirelli to understand the new tyres when everyone was invited, and his work ethic at Maranello is likened to that of the GOAT, Michael Schumacher, in that he turns up early and is forced to leave when they turn out the lights. You can say Seb loses his temper sometimes, when provoked, but to say he has no input is frankly ridiculous
**** YOU BRIATORE, PLUS YOUR HALFWIT BEARDED FRIEND....make him drive your Yate..maYBE HE'LL BE GOOD AT THAT...
It's all relative and I didn't mean to imply that he had no input. I'm sure he spends a great deal of time understanding the cars so that he can drive them well. I've just heard more about Räikkönen's ability to give very clear concise engineering instructions and then immediately go faster than I have about some other drivers on the grid. All the best, Andrew.
Is that really necessary? What does that add to the discussion? Let's try to be more eloquent and less abrasive. All the best, Andrew.
Pretty amazing that Alonso has been in F1 for like 15 years and people still don't know how to spell his name.
Alonso, good driver, but not so good team player. Huge potential never fulfilled because he constantly made bad decisions during his career. Now his options are limited. That's all in a nutshell.
furoni hates Alonso. I think his posts are funny lol. He is a good poster as long as FA is not involved
