I am in the market for 360 or 430, but my budget is right at the cusp of getting a low mile 360 or a high mile 430. I plan to drive it daily and keep it for the next 2-3 years. I am mainly concerned about the maintenance cost and resale value. Any advice, please?

It's all in the PPI. They both have expensive consumables. High miles means nothing to the motor, but the tie rods/ball joints on these cars don't last forever, for instance, in addition to the obvious like clutch/flywheel/throwout bearing. Clutch service may be listed as $3k but can cost you $10k by the time you're done doing everything you should do while in there. Obviously a belt service on a low miles 360 pales in comparison. Precats on both these cars have issues and should be replaced or eliminated, so that's something to look for. 430 is a much better drive through. I don't think it's as pretty as the 360, but much more driveable. What kind of daily driving are we talking? If you're talking a lot of stop and go, the F430 is your better choice there as well. Lots to consider.

High mileage 430 if you're gonna daily it assuming maintenance is similar on both.

The high mileage 430, as long as it has been properly maintained/serviced. Any of the usual issues should have been well and truly sorted out, and you'll have a more reliable and better experience.

Well if you are worried about resale and you are going to daily drive, I say get the low mileage 360. Love it or hate high mileage is often deal killer on resale, especially like you want in Two to three years.

430 is the better car. Both are reliable, both love to be driven. Neither are investments. You need to go back as far as the 246 to find a better looking Ferrari than a 360. I'm sure that was no help.

I went through a similar process and ended up with a nearly perfect, showroom condition 360 that I've been driving and enjoying for nearly 3 years. Me, I wasn't worried about depreciation and I just wanted a great car to drive and enjoy.

If you are really concerned with depreciation and really going to put lots of miles on it, then the 430 may be the better car for you because the mileage-related depreciation won't be as bad.

I would advise you to look for the right CAR of either model.

I was in the same boat and bought a f430. I have all the records, new clutch, capristo headers and exhaust brackets, etc. drove both of them, suspension/ride wise they seemed similar, power was the huge advantage. Overall, I'd say go with what you like more. Some like the 360 for it being more elegant. I love the 430, especially from the back for being more aggressive. Like others have said, poi. If you can get a high millage 360 with good records, save even more money for mods or maintenance. You never know when something will fail.... don't ask me why lol.

We faced a similar choice - three pedal 360 or paddle 430.
Both were great cars and fantastic experiences.
We went with the 360 both because we prefer it's looks and because we like the more "analog" feel of driving it.
Didn't care one wit about depreciation or value as it's a long term keeper.
We've doubled the mileage on it and intend on doing that several more times.
And to top it off, it just gets better the more we drive it.

Logic says the 430 for the following reasons:
If its a high mileage car, then it will have already been hit by depreciation. You wont lose so much at sale time...If you pay a premium for the low miles 360 and resale value is one of your considerations, then driving it daily will put a fair few miles and it will be worth much less in three years.
Plus the 430 is a much better drive.

Frankly, I think a F430 tops a F360 in every way, except sound. I dunno why, but the F430 has more of a bass/pseudo V8 sound. Would that be enough to make me favor a F360? Can't say. I can still hear the sound of F360 going down PCH after Crystal Cove in the fog, about as close to F1 as you can get.

A low mile car's value will tank a lot when you put a lot of mile on it. Think about it, you're paying a premium for it, which gets washed away, then if you go above the average mileage then you get another negative resale adjustment on it.

As for the higher mile 430, if you get a good deal on it, the resale value of a 30k mile is probably not as dramatically higher than a 50k one, when you compare a 5k mile 360 vs a 25k mile 360.

Lastly, if a higher mile car that's been driven and have all the big issues serviced then you're getting a great deal. A lot of issues are minor but are expensive and can easily set you back over 20k combined (on a 430).

Last thing you want is to buy a low mile car, pay a premium for it. Then to spend a lot of money to take care of issue that didn't pop up due to lack of use. Then to take the depreciation hit from putting miles on it.

Either way no right or wrong choice. Just whatever helps you feel better about your purchase every time you park it after a drive: was it worth the money (or loss in value)?

I didn't concern myself with miles. It's just not that big of a deal since so few of these cars have truly high miles.imo ultra low miles is something for collectors to worry about.
It was the transmissions that were more important, and based on price, the 360 (mt) was the only viable option.

be careful, all F430's require a massive 40k mile engine strip down, my friend has just completed this at Stratstone, final bill was £15k, he didn't mind as he uses his F430, 20k miles a year, in fact I'd say he's one of the happiest guys I know, I did 1k last year in mid and cracking a smile is a real effort ;-)

I'm no expert but I know it is the case, you save on 360 campbell services until you hit the 40k miles mark and then the 430 requires and major engine strip down and its not cheap. I believe it is in the service record but as mine is only 21k miles I haven't check this out.

Either your friend was taken to the cleaners, or his description of the work performed was hyperbole. Either way I'm afraid your assertion is incorrect.

He's a Ferrari Owner Club member, I'll ask more about this 40k mile extended service when I speak to Stratstone Ferrari next week, I'm sure various internal parts were mentioned that needed to be examined at this service interval which led to other issues being discovered, that's all I know for now I'm afraid, but be assured I'll find out more detail and revert back, the owner also said his F430 was unrecognisable from the rear view when he dropped in to the dealership, so that sounds like a considerable amount of stripped out engine work!!
