I've been reading Matthias's book recently and noticed that 331 GT Dinos originally were imported to the US. How many do you guys think remain ? Skipp
I suspect there are more dinos in the us then were originally imported seems like many of the current cars in the us include euro cars ..
Seriously, I know folks here have the real numbers but roughly there were 3500 GTs and 1700 GTSs made. Probably half of the Gts came here and most of the GTSs. So I bet about 1800 GTs and 1300 GTSs came here. Experts: correct me.
According to the compendium I believe a total of 3913 of 246 Dino (L, M, E series) were build from 1969 to 1974. Best regards Peter
How many RHD Gt's left. I keep getting asked this question. I heard about 23 were made but how many survive? tony
When I am in my GTS and people ask how many where made, after telling them I then add that there are more F40's running around than GTS's ever made. This tends to focus the mind on how rare a GTS is.
By the time most US spec cars were coming into the states, the GTS was in production. The US has always had an appreciation for open cars. Regardless, many cars were being ordered by dealers, and dealers ordered more open cars than coupes. Based on this, more GTS's came here than GT's, but that isn't something that sets a standard. Over the years, so many markets have pushed and pulled cars around the world. So many restorations have been done to whatever standard the owner wanted. GT's are definitely not as common in the US as GTS's. Not sure what all of that means, but it is what I have observed. Shawn
So, to be clear, there are approximately 4000+ Dino's that have the ULTIMATE "CHAIRS AND FLARES" option in the world today? Shawn
Think it is impossible to know how many Dino remain in the world, let alone in the USA. It is strictly a guess. How many Dino are on F-chat? Dino options, seats, fenders, colors, etc. only Marcel knows who's on first and what's on second... And even he, does not know the exact tally of survivors. The early ones, possibly more, as very low numbers, but the rest, hmmm. It's amusing at times, when 'one time' posters ask a "help question" on their first post then disappear, never to be heard of, until post #2, 5 years later. Back to the original question, my guess is between 5 / 15% less than built, out of 4,000+ cars? That number, is not exactly an exclusive quantity...and my guess is inconsequential, same as is the number of surviving Dino. Strictly a guessing game. How many FIAT Dino spider / coupe, were built? survivors? Probably even less proportionately, as at a moment they were the 250 GTE of the day, yummy engine(s), thus derelict car. Daytona, what? 1200 +? Still a lot of cars. How many are there around? Nobody will separate Daytona drive trains unless need spares for 'authentic' racers. Never seen a Daytona shell on offer. For instance, the one I recently found in Milano, an E series GT, no-one knew of its physical existance, and possibly 20 people know of it, 18 if you knock the seller and present buyer, and nobody is talking. The way I see it, only the 'gifted' speak on Dino chassis numbers specifically, due to their achievements in life. No one is going to refer to Dino #01104, what for? Unlike a car such as #0490M, that all 'cognoscenti' know what it is. I certainly did not, had to look it up Regards, Alberto
A cross reference and summarize from various valid Dino registers, as well as a combination of receiving and searching information through many years interest for this mark, both the Ferrari Dino and the Fiat Dino. This also includes data from Dino Italia and The Dino register.
