The Ferrari SUV Thread

The question isn't whether Ferrari will make an SUV.
The real question is will the Ferrari SUV comes in the hardcore/limited/lightweight edition.

 

As opposed to a lumbering, bloated land yacht?

Car magazine say that the Ferrari off-roading supercar, Codenamed F16X, will be built alongside the GTC4 Lusso’s successor, and go up against the likes of the Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX when it hits the streets in 2021.

If they do this, they should consider launching a new brand name to protect their current specialized sports car brand.

Similar to Toyota coming out with Lexus to make luxury cars, Ferrari should invent some new name to make cross-overs and SUV models.
Maybe something in Italian that represents rally or off-road racing.

That way, the parent corporation for the RACE stock symbol could become a multi-brand entity.
Kind of like GM has multiple brands, FCA has Fiat + Chrysler + Dodge + Jeep, or Ford/Lincoln/Mercury used to be.

They keep relying on Ferrari to bring $$ instead of really focusing on Fiat, Maserati and Alfa. These 3 brands have a lot of potential.

 

Unfortunately Ferrari plays to the biebers and the kardashians of the world these days and they want the ferrari logo on their suv.

 

This doesn't seem like a good idea if they keep making the Maserati suv. I thought the Maserati brand was supposed to be the sedan/suv branch for Ferrari and its customers. They could shoe-horn whatever V12 Ferrari engine in it if they think people are so adamant about having a Ferrari badge under that hood even if the badge on the hood itself is different.

Will they offer a diesel too like Porsche?

 

Customers who want the prestige of a premium SUV don't want the same badge as a lowly Ghibli that Sarah got for HS graduation

 

I don't see the big deal. If SUVs existed in Enzo's time he would have made one too.

I think they are a business and need to act as such. As long as they make V12 cars like the F12/812, and the mid engine V8 sports cars, I really have no objection.

 

The problem is that most people that own a Ferrari already own an SUV/truck or can easily obtain one. SUVs are for dirty animals (pets and kids) and large packages, which most people do not want to pack into a supercar. Where is the demand? I doubt it as big as people assume.

ULTIMATELY the market will decide. If people don't buy it and sell their stock/cars in response to such a controversial decision, then they will be forced to kill it. But if the Lambo SUV does well, it may be time to officially say goodbye to Ferrari everyone remembers.

Lastly, if you think the latest Ferraris are ugly (without pininfarina) then just imagine what the SUV would look like. Gross.

 

Georg Kacher comes up with cryptic stories every few months. For years he is telling us about an upcoming new Dino which is due to arrive. More recently he said a so called “LaFerrarina” would be in the pipeline and a radical replacement for the FF with gullwing doors!

IMO this man has no credit at all. I don`t believe anything he is saying.

 

I'll stick with a full size range rover for SUV duties.

Lusso great daily for when occasionally taking more people.

812 or 488 for the sportier stuff.

Definitely wouldn't go as far as saying I'd sell everything and move away from the Ferrari brand. Just don't buy it simple as that.

 

I am seeing a lot of bentayaga's where I am and bet that they would sell a ton of Ferrari SUV's in areas like Metro NY and the suburbs.

 

We should organize a mock funeral in front of the Ferrari Factory the day it is introduced.

 

Im not a brand whore so it doesnt bother me. I dont care what Ferrari as a brand stands for as long as I like the particular car Im buying.

Does it really matter?

The people on the dealer's "VIP" list have to buy everything to stay there. Ferrari could rebadge a Lada and it would sell.

 

Sad but true - This the effect of being and independent company with it's own stock valuation.
By going SUV they will add 100M's in profit and billions in market cap. FCA can't resist that
and they fired Luca who was resisting it - IMO
