The red wire from battery to ignition switch on my car has been changed. Currently the wire runs from ignition switch behind the fuse panel and then to the battery between the battery cover and spare wheel housing. I would like to route the wire correctly so that I don't have a wire running through the spare wheel compartment that also prevents the battery cover from being bolted down flush.
Can someone tell me where that red wire should be routed?

The wire goes out through the fiberglass inner wheel well just behind the fuse board and follows the chassis tubes down to the battery. See attached picture for info.

And one more showing the routing below the wheel well (Yellow tagged wire). Disregard the relays...they are not original.

Someone must have tampered with your car. Maybe time for a more thorough inspection of the wiring system?

Note that this "red" wire is not protected by any fuse and can draw significant amount of current if shorted. This can potentially sert fire to the car.

    Thanks Peter. That's helpful.
I originally thought direct to battery couldn't be correct, but confirmed it with the wiring diagram. I have a fusible link on the car at the battery end.
