WEll, Liberty may own f.1 but doens own the teams or drivers, so, unless Mercedes tell Elton he must show up, it's really up to him....

Mercedes told him to turn up. Even so, it's the British GP week, he's always saying how much his fans are the greatest and the bestest, surely he'd turn up...nope!

funnily enough Button managed to turn up for the London Demo...all the way from Malibu!

I agree, it's his home g.p, it's his fans, so he should be there...but he thiks he alerady gives too much to f.1 and teh fans, he's too much of a diva so he can't be bored....he should stay in greece for ever, looks like his kinda place (if you know what i mean ;))

This is just a proof how honest he is when he is talking about his fans and thanks them for the support...But I doubt they will realize this...
I do understand that he does not have fun showing up there but when you always point out how important your fans are to you you should be there when it is you home...Nobody would be surprised Kimi not showing up in the Helsinki F1 celebration but Lewis???
I don´t get that and this has absolutely nothing to do whether I like him or not...I would be even more disappointed if I would care about him!

--Liberty are understood to have told Hamilton that his presence for this evening’s parade of F1 cars through the capital, expected to be watched by a quarter of a million people, was required. But even as a triple world champion and one of only two British drivers on the grid, he appears to have placed his own needs above those of the sport.--

Oh Im so shocked LOL :) Not missed and who cares. Contrast this with his so dramatic statements after Austria and the effort he makes LOL :)

--"You have to have patience with us as drivers, and I can't speak for everyone else but you can't be happy every day you have a result, no matter whether it's second, fifth, 10th," he said.

"Wherever it is, you're gonna be p----- at one point because you put so much into it. You train, you sacrifice everything to make sure you get the result, the best result possible.

"So when you don't personally deliver and other things are stacked up against you it's hard to come out smiling because that means you don't care enough.

"The fact is I care more than I need to. So there are days when it feels more painful than others, there are days when it's easier to handle and I think I'll move forward.

"So when you write your stories or when people make comments, just bear that in mind because it's not a sign of being ungrateful or anything like that."--

    So....GO BOTTAS!! :)

Could you imagine the Dutch having an F1 thing similar to this and Verstappen going on a 2 day bender in Ibiza? They would NOT be impressed.

Like I said, no one gives a flying **** about Palmer, and like you said also, his fake comments about having the best fans (like he says about them everywhere, LOL), it's just sad.

    Hahaha yeah.
+1 boohoo...''oh I only finished 4th, sorry I need a holiday to get my mind back in order I'm so distraught''. He's not right in the head. Vettel should exploit this.

    GO BOTTAS

Ham has scored a spectacular own goal by not attending the London demo run. Home GP. Loyal fans. He can't be bothered to turn up.

Personally, I'm starting to feel that he manipulates his fan base via social media, but doesn't actually respect them apart from when it's convenient for him to do so. Not good.

    He's still a great driver though…

    Bravo.

Also, not everybody is interested in promoting a British GP in London, which is exactly what this stupid demo is.

People who really value racing would much prefer the British GP to be kept at Silverstone, the birthplace of the WDC, rather than watching a silly demonstration of classic cars between plastic barriers!!

Refusing to attend the dumb London PR show is all about supporting Silvestone and making a stand against Liberty.

Not at all; you got it all wrong!!

Hamilton doesn't want to give credibility to a street race in London, and Zi can't blame him for that!!

    How do you know?

You seem to make up a lot of stories about Hamilton lately.

Because he would've said so beforehand, not use his social media to promote him having a holiday, and make the statement that he's so stressed out.

Slight impression of LH being a bit above the team. So who's in control Toto lol?? :)

This demonstration in London had nothing to do with Hamilton, but everything to do with Liberty using Sadiq Kahn's vanity to put pressure on Silverstone. Nothing else.
I couldn't care a damn about Hamilton's social media, but I am glad if his absence somehow dented a shameful PR exercise.
Also, nothing wrong in my book for drivers having a rest between races.
