Hi, Has anybody got the manual in PDF format for the roof they could let me have a copy of or pics of how to remove the lining from the roof starting at the front as I wish to replace the elastic straps but don't want to accidentally rip the lining by removing it incorrectly. It looks like you remove the screw from either side holding the lining then push the lining down from the U-shaped framework but not sure if this correct? Thanks, Chris

I was hoping this was a simple procedure. Just read the entire Ferrari procedure on the factory workshop manual. Does not appear to be a DIYer friendly job!

I also have a question for Steve. At 1/3 open are the straps stretched or relaxed? Otherwise how do you know what length? I have to do this so badly also. My top only opens to 95%. It does close properly.
Hi Spider348, can you post some pics or info from the manual if possible. I had a look this weekend and it seems a simple task if you can get the lining out. If you can get it out of the front frame, then there is a Velcro strap and screw on each side that just need undoing. This should give access to the straps. I was planning on cutting the existing straps out but leaving a 50mm tab to sew the new elastic straps to. I can reach each end of the long straps as is but would be a pig of a job to sew in a confined space and would probably end up as a bodge job.
Instead of removing the old straps or sewing in additional straps, why not just shorten the existing straps by folding them over themselves and sew it to itself? You can shorten the overall length by a few inches in the middle of the strap so it will be easier to access for sewing. Keep in mind, there are also straps that pull the bar forward when the top is closed. If you strengthen the back straps too much you might create a new issue.
At 1/3 open position, the straps will start to relax. As to the length of the new strap, note the location/position of the old straps. Transfer the location/position by marking it with masking tape on top of canvas if you have to. Close the top completely. Stretch the new elastic 3/4 taunt according to the length of the marked location and cut to length.

No Fred, With the hood partially open I can gain access to the straps that I wish to replace, but not sufficient to get in and sew. If the lining and outer cover could be separated then it would better access.

Yes, I got it. I'm wrestling with the same issues. I saw a few straps part open but also could not see enough to stitch. As Steve said in post #4 you need to be able to stitch blind which is why yesterday afternoon I bought nylon thread. This way any stitch would be strong

Fred, sorry to seem ungrateful for the post but you only seemed to have addressed the easy to get to straps, the difficult ones are further inside the capote that pull the bar back? Chris
No offense taken. First I thought I needed a ram but decided on the low hanging fruit. Fixing the straps that were accessable and cleaning and re-greasing the linkages worked for me. If it didn't I would have moved on further. My question to you is how do you know for sure it's those straps that needs repairs?
