it seems that getting to Friday will be a struggle this week...

oh and why couldn't the calipers be painted CdF like the body? The guy will be standing there with paint in hand.

Being a standard color I think GS is a better value for money; my uneducated eyes do not see much dramatic difference between these three shades of grey (even though I admit they are not exactly the same; seems to me like ferro is the lightest and CDF is the darker).
I'd rather spend money for getting triple layer than for getting a so-called "historic" color.

GS is a bargain - no doubt people would pay more if Ferrari marketed it as a "special colour".

Grey paints are like wines. For the non connoisseur they can be almost identical, for the aficionado they are each a whole world.

You're right, GS can be considered as the reference

Ferro is lighter and has that "Ferric" hint that can be seen in the sun

CdF has a "Graphite" hint, like the a lead pencil end.

In an ideal world you are correct however 3 layer CDF shows way too much of the gold when in very direct and bright light as 3 layer paints generally exaggerate the metallic and or other elements within the paint. Now, one could create a completely new colour with less gold and more silver metallic but then you are headed down a different road of time and to and fro with factory ext etc. Of the "standard" greys, a 3-layer of GS would be nicer than the 3-layer of CDF which I've seen (originated) in-person.....

I have this "issue" with my 3-layer blue F12....it looks bloody purple in extreme light....however it's actually a very dark blue under normal conditions.....

The darker square is 3 layer CDF on top of standard CDF.

Am toying with Lava. Thoughts welcome please.

I assure you it's much too much gold in direct light....will pm you pics of my "purple" F12....lol

FWIW Lava was my fall back had I continued on with a 3-layer extravaganza...

Well said MalibuGuy! I think being able to order the car presents you the chance to show your unique character and thus make something special even more so. But- they are all special in my opinion.

I was at the event and according to the plaque inside the car the exterior is "Grigio Silverstone 740" and the interior is "Rosso Ferrari 130421"

The 3-layer CdF matches Maserati's Grigio Granito.

How about Abarth's Grigio Trofeo, Grigio Campovolo, Grigio Record, Grigio Pista, now that we're in the grey area? :D

Thank you for the insight. The spec plaque is an invaluable tool which clears up ambiguity and creates a stronger provenance profile.

    Another Ferrari innovation.
