To me this is not about personality but about results. Ham is getting close to Fangio's. A simple fact

 

Did you miss all the threads this week about Hamilton's no-show in London?

Am I really jumping to conclusion?

The guy was crucified in the media because he didn't turn up for a Liberty PR exercise, as if he had committed a crime!!

 

Do you mean to tell me that nobody ever criticised Hamilton on this forum before my post?

Fangio lived in a different era, where there was far less awareness about F1 and also hardly any media pressure. F1 was a backwater then ...

 

Sure, but it doesn´t say much about Hamilton.

Whenever Hamilton doesn´t get on to the front row, like we´ve seen a couple a races this season, his races a far less impressive, he struggles.

Only Mercedes get turn up the boost as much as Mercedes does, to get that pole, that get that free air. And to get that undercut, etc.

Ferrari gained on Mercedes this season, finally, but they´re not there yet as a fast track as Silverstone shows.

But Vettel is still leading the championship.

 

THAT is debatable

 

Basically you blame Mercedes for their superiority, allowing them to put regularly their cars on the front row and sail away during the race.

Why can't the other teams try to do that then?

 

That's what a forum is for: debate !!

 

Yet again, despite the team being based in the UK, the car being built in the UK, the power unit being built in the UK, the majority of the engineers and Mechanics coming from the UK, the lead driver being from the UK, and even the Mercedes badges/stickers coming from the UK - Because the bills are paid for by a German parent company, and the fact that the team races under a German licence, all of their success is credited to being German!

 

The Vatican and the Pope are in charge of who becomes a Saint and they're pro Ferrari

So maybe the Queen will make Lewis a Duke that'll do nicely

 

We don´t blame Mercedes for that but we also do not give Lewis credit for that
But it seems that is not enough for some over here...

They where before the GP. You say people haven't acknowledged his drive today, yet refer to something before it = Toil like comments.

PS why does he need constant acknowledgement, is it that you think we otherwise don't think he's done a great job this weekend?

That was not what I was telling you. Since the end of the race there were only lighthearted jabs at him. Now the floodgates are open. :shrug:

He'll soon set a new all time record for poles. True but for me it's more about WDCs. He won't beat MS in that but he has a chance to reach Fangio's level. As does Vettel.

Of course, it was better to see the result of the race, and the reaction of the crowd to see that most of the criticism from this week was in fact not well founded.

From what I saw on my screen, it looked to me that Hamilton was well connected to the crowd, that he had plenty of time to celebrate with them and that his efforts were welcome.
The public couldn't stop applauding and cheering for him.

Not at all what the doomsayers have been printing all week because he didn't bother to turn up in London. If his fans were disappointed in London, they were surely rewarded when it mattered !!!

The Church of England broke away from The Pope and the Vatican in 1534 - In England, we can make our own saints, so Saint Hamilton is perfectly possible!

(The fact that it would not be recognised by the rest of the World would be of little importance)

However, it seems that most in the UK believe Hamilton to be a God of racing, so being made a mere "Saint" would be far beneath him!

 

Nobody cares whether he attends a promo gig if he would not constantly posting how important his fans are and what they mean for his career and that he wants to give back and all that blablabla...But it is telling about his followers that everything is forgotten as soon as he wins the GP
