So, don't you think tyre management is a big problem for Ferrari? The tyres didn't delaminate or explode on the Mercedes. Ferrari has to find out why.
sounds like I missed a bad race for Ferrari - my tv did not record for some reason - 2what channel was it on with direct tv in the USA?
Allthough I know the EU is far from perfect, the only thing crumbling right know is the UK economy, for years to come. And for a reason, progress is moving forwards, not backwards. Jaguar, Bentley, Rolls Royce, British Leyland are all examples that inward looking self-righteousness leads to nowhere. Ferrari on the other hand have embraced new technology.
+1 the first real circuit to show the Ferrari was not virtually suitable from Prac 1. Rare so far. Future development concerns me the most with respect to Ferrari this year. Bottas is everything Ferrari do not have with Kimi. Its a bit glaring now.
No, I'm not excusing it. I said it earlier in the race; the Ferraris are pathetic, getting beaten by a company that makes soulless, boring cars (and I own 2 of them). But to say that Bottas easily overtook both Ferraris from eighth is somewhat misleading as it suggests that it was purely his effort and better driving - as opposed to issues with the cars (in this case tires) - than the Ferrari drivers. And, unless I'm missing something (which may be because i don't watch all of the races), I think these are the first issues the cars have had. So, not excusing what is a poor performance and I will be the first to admit that Mercedes is miles better than Ferrari - it really isn't even close.
The power needs to be much higher. The Merc is like an Lmp 1 vs a lmp2 to the field at the rate Mercedes is developing the car. The car's speed isn't enough to try to overtake Mercedes at this rate they are this season. They're going to need to push substantial amount more power to get closer. Let alone enough to overtake the Mercs. Ferrari is now under enormous pressure right now they cannot afford to rest at all. I am thinking they should take a brand new turbo and get newer engine. I mean yes the grid penalty is bad for getting a new turbo. At the rate they are though it would be far better to get progress rather than sink back.
You have to give credit to Elton for one thing----he wisely dumped McLaren to join Mercedes at precisely the right time. Michael could have been WDC #8 if he had the best car on the grid again wit Mercedes. Michael didn't have the best car starting out at Bennetton, and Ferrari were weak when he joined also, although he played a major role on making them great again. Elton'a not doing anything Seb or Fred couldn't do in his car.
Except that Hamilton chose Merc at the perfect moment and Alonso threw his stellar career away by going to Ferrari and then to McHonda. As for Seb, we'll have to see how long his downtime will last. The best drivers get to drive the best cars. And the very best know when to switch teams.
Vettel's was a puncture, Kimi's was tire failure. Different issues. Merc has had a fast car since the beginning of the season but had trouble working the tires. Last few races though it's seemed like they've got on top of those issues and they seem to be starting to pulling away in development.
Kimi has 55% of Vettel's points and is not helping Ferrari with WCC compared to Bottas. The math is not lying here.Kimi has 55% of Vettel's points as of today. Bottas wins, can more than compete with LH and has 87% of LH's points. He is helping Mercedes get the WCC. Kimi is helping lose it for Ferrari. Its glaring. He is beyond inconsistent and overall I like him. He is overdue to be gone. Who can replace him is the only question left. Too bad Ferrari cannot get Bottas LOL. Team harmony only goes so far.
Kimi is inconsistent. He's past his best, no shame in that, but time to move over. Bottas doesn't have a 2018 contract just like everyone else.. who knows.
It's hardly something to be satisfied when you are McLaren. It used to be one of the 2 best teams in F1, and now it's reduced to a pathetic role.
