Ferrari has never been particularly successful at Silverstone.

Given that they're one of the few teams that isn't based just down the road from there, that's not too surprising. ;)

Overall as just a fan... I'm really tired of Pole to Checkered Flag races in general. I don't care who it is. But it is especially tiring to see Merc just cruise to wins with such total domination. I'm not taking anything away from them. They do everything pretty much right and make very few mistakes. They have one of the best drivers driving the best car and they back that up with solid strategy and reliability. It's hard to watch everyone else muddle through the weekend.

We're at the mid-point of the season now and my fear is that this is where Merc seem to turn the screws on everyone else. Ferrari hasn't been much of a late season "improver" if you will. Merc just keeps getting stronger and rings out these 100'ths here while other teams just stay somewhat stagnate. I'm not a doomsayer, nor do I think "oh my God it's all over" but the ball always seems to bounce the right way and I'm a believer that you make your own luck. Even when Merc do have issues, Ferrari can't seem to fully capitalize. Whether it was Seb bumping Lewis to cost him a probably win, or now this issue with the tires, it just seems that you get on a path where bad things just keep happening. Merc seem largely immune to that for the most part and I don't think it's a random accident.

    This

Seb's anger issues are already having an impact: he could be much more in the lead than a single point

... oh and now I definitely stand by my recent thread about "if you could kick any driver off the grid"

Danill is a menace. Not only does he seem wholly unlikable to me, he's just out there causing waaaaay too much danger. If a tire bump at 15mph is borderline calamity in the eyes of the FIA, then Torpedo should have a race ban.

... and while I'm not fan of Jolly, that poor guy at least deserves a working car to prove himself.

If Vettel signs for another 3 years,he might end up like Alonso in his Ferrari days, finishing second and then career just about over....

Might be because they are the only team which never missed a season since 1950

I am very serious, Hulk is a massive talent, he should have gotten the Ferrari seat years ago, if he hadn´t been picked up by Renault so soon he would now be in a Mercedes sweeping the floor with hamilton because you can bet he in better than bottas..

I suppose but it doesn't make any sense to say they don't do well at Silverstone. In fact I believe those 15 wins are the most for any team at any track

All that based on speculations and gossips from the media.

Hulkenberg has never shown any indication that he was WDC material, and there is good reasons for that. Ferrari was right not to recruit it, IMO.

You can check, but I think he never made a podium in his long career, for example, unlike some much maligned drivers like Magnussen, Petrov or, wait for it...... Kvyat !!!

he did...and you just have to look at his races to see how good he is....unless you think hamilton would win with a Renault.

This from the poster that suggested McLaren would "build" a car for IndyCar when one cannot.
I know, I know nothing. My perception of reality is zip.
Apparently you missed the point entirely, again, as usual. The once great McLaren is in a hole, no doubt. Haas outpointing it is meaningless. They've done nothing special to gain any extra hype. When and if they do, I'll be right there with you. Not until.... ;)

Yeah, but 2011 is quite a long time ago.

Plus, only twice since MS left Ferrari.

And only 5 times in this century.

    So....hahahaha

I don't get the humour but....

29% of the time out of 10+ teams is pretty damn good.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about all this. Sure I've only been following closely for about 6 years, but there are 2 things about SF and Seb that I think should be remembered after Silverstone and at this point in the season.

First, Seb pitted first and Kimi was running faster. He also qualified ahead of Seb again. This shows the strength of the car and of Kimi's driving. Since Seb pitted first, ahead of Merc, I'm not surprised his and Kimi's tires failed. Lockups and struggling with Max included. Did anyone finish on the white tire?

Second, Seb's "complaining" that Danyl was a "torpedo" doesn't seem so whiny now does it? I think it's clear he was on to something and with a season to sort things out, it's more than just complaining.

Also, How about Hams holding someone up again on track. Like nuking Grossjean's quali lap at the very end. He was not penalized for it and some will say it wasn't close enough. But Roman had to lift and complained on the radio like the not-so-whiny Seb. ;)
With all of the carbon fiber debris and DNFs across the grid, don't you think a little more real time officiated from the marshals would help? Like ignoring blue flags. Sorting out these kind of games makes for a safer more accurate grid and less catastrophic DNFs. There was plenty of legal blocking and racing going on at the front during the race.

As a Ferrari fan, I hope the shorter wheel base on the cars helps at the Hungaroring. What do you think?

The hahaha was my way of taking the edge off the post, didn't want to sound too aggressive, just an attempt to articulate my post as being a bit ironic.

Yeah, almost a THIRD of the races won since 2000 doesn't make Ferrari unsuccessful.

What makes it FEEL that way is how long ago the last one is getting.

Does Ferrari's "only" 15 out 68 years and "miniscule" McLaren's 14 of 52 make them "seem" unsuccessful? If a team dominated forever, it wouldn't be too entertaining, would it?
Nonetheless they're both very successful teams. (Williams too) ;) :)

More important: Mercedes won every single one in the hybrid era.
Ferrari having won before that time does not help at all at the moment, be it 5, 10 or 50 times...

Sure it does. Mercedes winning shows they're dominating right now, understood. Eight years of Mercedes' existence is not so representative of history, however... ;)
