Hi, I'm a new owner of a 91' testarossa. Unfortunately, there was some noise coming out from the transmission when accelerating in second gear. A local specialist opened the transmission, the second gear was worn. Was told to replace the gears in pair with better result. However, they are not able to source the pair of gears. Would like to ask if you know where I can buy those gears. Thank you.

this has nothing to do with profile police. we are here a large community with a lot of knowledge and I think if someone join new he/she may introduce and fill out the profile. like in real life when you join a group never seen/meet before you minimum say "hello" and not just ask questions.
also if someone join a forum he knows that he will give up some of his privacy.

my meaning, but may be I`m too old? a bit of decency and friendliness has never hurt

I believe Ferrari is out of the spare parts remake on older cars. I was in Modena last September at an Italian car show. Vendor displaying all kind of older remade parts up to the Daytona. Talked to the owner and he said Ferrari destroyed all the older patterns. He sells his better than new remakes to Ferrari Classic, when they are restoring older cars for customers.

My 1987 has 40,000 miles, 1st and 2nd gear were spalled. This is I believe a common problem with these cars. ZF possibly made the gears, Rumor is not proper heat treat. My car had a noisy 1st gear, but shifted fine and worked without any problems.

I waited three years for gears to become available and finally got them in September 2015. One of the gears was literally split in half lengthwise. Through various sources, I learned the gears would be eventually manufactured by a company in Australia or New Zealand. Supposedly, they are a contractor for companies like Ford, and the smaller-production parts get put on the back burner. When the gears arrived, my mechanic pointed out the improvements made to the previous iterations. The car has been running very well for the past two years.

Best bet is to contact GT Auto Parts in Arizona or Ferr Parts in California. They are very knowledgeable.

    oh, missunderstanding
my english is not so bad but what you have written seems for me that the new gears have been split in half lengthwise, and that is what I could not imagine and was asking for photos. but you mean the old gears is broken lengthwise

so you have now new gears or still looking for?

In this case I would also consider just walking into company that produces gears/sprockets. I do that sometimes even just because many of these parts are ridiculously expensive. Having stuff like this produced even just for 1 set can sometimes be done for a fraction of the price compared for what they are sold for on whatever websites.
I'm having for example just having some sprockets remanufactured for a third of the price, from better material, with induction hardened teeth, etc. etc.

I need a second gear set for my TR. Waiting for a set from Australia. I don't know when they will be produced! I received a 1st gear set that looks improved over original. Any Ideas?
