  1. Justice? Justice for what? For it's own underachievement the years prior?

Well deserved? Absolutely. Just as respect for Mercedes right now is well deserved.

We are Tifosi? Speak for yourself. I enjoy the sport to see who's doing the best at the moment. 'Not a follower with blinders here.

Why praise the competition? Because it has earned it, that's why.

'Hope Mercedes "hit the wall every race." Quite mature and intellectual, eh?

You don't praise them??? I would never have guessed...!

I don't get the issue. All teams signed up to these tech regs. Now they have to make do. Well done Merc for doing the best engineering job.

Next formula will be a reset. And again one team will dominate. Let's hope it is ferrari. Going all extremist tribal on other teams about this is just juvenile.

Agree, unlike Ferrari in Shummy's days, Mercedes won because basicly the FIA changed the regulations to favour them...Renault believed it was good for them and went along..and Luca made the mistake and accepted this crap.....

So, Ferrari signed up willingly. That's the bottom line. You can't make excuses and say it's not Ferrari's fault. They weren't forced into anything. They negotiated a bad deal and now this is the result.

Let's also not forget that Ferrari have actually developed a very good engine now. Certainly competitive enough to take the fight to Mercedes. The only teams who have no hope are Renault and Honda.

There is another point to remember, which I believe is crucial at this time. The longer formulas stay static, the closer the teams performance becomes as they all converge and optimise towards the same engineering goals. This, in theory, should make the teams performance closer each year - which is exactly what we are seeing. On that basis, 2018 should be closer than 2017. 2019 should be closer than 2018. We typically see one team dominate at the beginning of a new formula era as that is the point at which engineering solutions are most immature and diverse. Be careful what you wish for. Radically changing formulas doesn't level the playing field at all. In fact it does the opposite.

In the end, it was the tyre problems for both Ferraris that put paid to any chance of a big points finish.

Pirelli says that the problems the two Ferrari drivers had were different, but I don't see it like that. Both left-front tyres had delamination problems, and when that happens you're in the lap of the gods as to the outcome. Will the tyre stay inflated, as was the case with Raikkonen? Or will it deflate, as with Vettel?

Raikkonen's tyres were actually six laps fresher than Vettel's, while Valtteri Bottas, albeit with a different chassis, had done 31 laps on the same compound with a heavier car. So, in general, tyre life should not have been the issue.

So why, on a chassis that has been so good on its tyres until now, has this problem suddenly reared its ugly head?

At the Red Bull Ring a week before Silverstone, Ferrari introduced a new front wing with a longer-chord main plane.

This will produce more overall downforce, but have very different airflow separation characteristics, which can be much more difficult to manage.

This sort of change could lead to Ferrari running the front suspension set-up stiffer to stop that front wing getting too close to the ground.

If this is what Ferrari did, then the front tyre will be getting more of a pounding. Not only that, it can lead to more lock-ups under braking, and these local hotspots can very easily lead to delamination.

From my observations at Silverstone, both Ferrari drivers want different things from the car. Vettel turns in on the brakes, so needs confidence in the rear, which a stiffer front suspension set-up will give him. Raikkonen turns in earlier and asks for more from the front end of the car mid-corner, so he needs a more positive front end.

There will be an in-depth analysis of what happened, and as it's Ferrari there will be a few days of shouting and throwing hands up in the air and looking to the gods for the solution.

    What's gone wrong for Ferrari?
There were signs at Silverstone that Mercedes now has Ferrari on the ropes, and it looks like a change of development direction may be to blame

    Marchionne calls for Ferrari response

Sergio Marchionne has called for "an immediate response" from Ferrari after the British grand prix.

In a speech to Ferrari staff, the team's president was responding to the perception Mercedes has now clearly raced ahead in the battle for the 2017 title.

"I know you are the same team from Monte Carlo and the start of the season," said Marchionne.

"We cannot mourn this negative result but instead I expect an immediate reaction. We have always known our opponent was very strong and dominant for years.

"But I am convinced we will get back where we were."

However, former Renault boss and Italian Flavio Briatore is not convinced Ferrari can beat Mercedes this year.

"I say it with regret, but Ferrari maybe would have had a better chance if they had better exploited the problems of Mercedes from the first part of the season.

"Mercedes had its difficulties but has now reset," he added.

Finally, Ferrari boss Maurizio Arrivabene did not want to respond to Mercedes team chairman Niki Lauda's claim the Italian team caused its tyre problems at Silverstone by being too aggressive on strategy.

    "Let Niki talk," said Arrivabene.

I'm not tired of their success nor do I begrudge it... but as a fan you want to see competition. I stated clearly that they have done everything right and so has Lewis for the most part. From a fan perspective, I just done want to see every race won on Saturday or at the first turn.

  8. There's always IndyCar for you.... ;)

I see competition. Right now Merc's on top. It's what it should be. The best showing their best... :)

5 of 10 races have been won by other than pole.

As an F1 fan I'm pleased with this season so far. Good balance of overtaking without being gimicky and the wdc is virtually tied half way through.

  12. So be it. In either case, we'll see, won't we?:)

I do rather like those big headlights on the hot soft top in rosso.

The car is not bad either.

Lol ..... You are hilarious! Ross Brawn brought Mercedes back not Michael. He did not develop the hybrid cars because he drove V8s lol....and retired end of 2012 with V6s coming in 2014. Hamilton has more claim in that area with his and Rosberg's work through 2013.
Michael generally a greater person? Lol.... I think not! How many cars did he punt off deliberately? He even got excluded from the championship one year for cheating lol.....Better driver? Debatable! Hamilton beat 3 World Champions as teammates who did Michael beat lol....you're funny!

    +1

Like they say "Every dog has its day".

I cannot see why the tifosi would complain after 3 years of Mercedes domination, when they enjoyed 5 years of success with Schumacher.

Unless they are bias perhaps ...
