This car is coming out way faster than I was expecting! Is there any news on the design? Will it be the design of an elegant GT (like Maserati GranTurismo or the original Ferrari California) or more of an extreme sports car design, like Ferrari 812?
Looking forward to seeing the rebodied California which retains the folding hard top, the plus 2 diminutive rear seats, and the front V8 twin-turbo. Not a true game changer --just a sharper sports car.
I'm told that it's like the change from F12 to 812 and is more aggressive looking than the California.
My dealer told me that the new convertible will have the nose very similar to the GTC4, a lot sportier look than the current Cali (muscle appearance), only 2 lights at the back, the back seat to be exactly the same as the current Cali and the engine configuration was not determined yet (or not shared). Their opinion, a lot sexier and more attractive. Guess that every dealer says that about a new car
For those liking the 2+2 element, they will be pleased to hear there will be a tiny bit more room back there.......
Has anyone seen what it might look like? It sounds like some people are implying they have seen the new design. Is everyone guessing or has someone seen it? F164 If someone knows the engine number, are the specs published?
That would be perfect, it needs just a bit more. Right now it's just too tight for us (but we make it work hehe). The CaliTHS is an amazing package how you trump that is going to be quite interesting to me. Sent from my HTC 10 using Tapatalk
Select dealers have seen it last week at a meeting in maranello. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
I'm surprised there are no photo's of test mules. I'm super excited to see it. I have a California T 2015 and ready to upgrade to a newer model.
Exactly my thought. Will the engine be more powerful? The 458 and 488 both have magneride as a standard feature. I believe that the Cali T suspension is the HS suspension for the Cali 30 so will the improvements that are part of HS be standard or still offered as a package? If the package is still available and the engine is more powerful, then there might be a good reason to buy one sooner.
Do we think this will come from the existing engine or the Alfa V6TT (which would put further distance between it & 488) ?
I have to say this is the million dollar question. What is the power train of the new car and I understand this wasn't discussed or revealed at the recent dealer launch. The options as I see them, all to produce circa 600hp: Cali T engine with the wick turned up Alfa V6 TT with an element of hybrid assist Cali T engine with small element of hybrid assist Using the Alfa engine would provide some interesting marketing opportunities........
If the standard T is already about 550 whereas the Alfa is about 500 & the 488 is 650 to use the V8TT at 600 would seem the easiest option unless they go Alfa/Hybrid as you surmise Let us recall Marchionne was quoted as saying in November 2016: “all Ferraris sold from 2019 will have some hybrid elements.” although the implication in March 2017 was that V12 Hybrids would come first and that this would necessitate a new platform - as Europeans tend not to talk of model years we are probably safe to think the new smaller car will not be hybrid
The V8 will be first and given we are only 18months away from 2019, to me it does suggest a hybrid element in this car albeit modest to start with. In theory this is a new model, not a makeover and so what better time to start the introduction?
I think that is what you will get. I don't think ferrari is going to introduce a v6. The stigma behind the v6 and buying a ferrari is worse than putting a ferrari badge on a toilet seat. ya ya ya I know dino... ya ya ya... you guys probably don't know ferrari raced 4 and straight 6s... The current buyer... especially the market they are targeting will not swallow a TT V6
