Saw this car again today, and it is still owned locally by a big collector. Great little car, although I love the rally version even better.

Boy, unless my math is off, if sold for 400,000 BP, the buyer's premium on that Stratos would be 82,500 BP or $107K !!

Yes, out of curiosity I spoke to my go to guy in Italy about this car (I didn't even know that Jolly Club assembled cars existed). He said that they were assembled in the early 80s by the Jolly Club from parts they bought from Lancia after Lancia discontinued the Stratos. To him they aren't real Stratos because they weren't completed in the Lancia factory. It's not just a matter of history, the quality of assembly was apparently rather poor. He said that anybody who knows anything about Stratos would demand a discount though there is always a chance somebody pays up in an auction.

By the way, I think that the estimates on all the homologation specials in the bonhams auction (Stratos, rs200, rs200 evo, s4, 037, 205 t16) are pretty optimistic. Some of these cars are of questionable identity, some are pretty rough, some are pretty non-original despite what the catalogue says and ALL of them have been sitting around for 10+ years (the evo hasn't been even started in 10+years!). Speaking of the rs200 evo, the estimate is 500-600k but it had been for sale at the Auto Collections in Vegas for a while. Last I checked the asking price was either 500 or 550k. My guess is that if anybody had made an offer anywhere close a deal would have been arranged. I doubt anyone cared as evos in pristine condition sold in action in the low to mid500s (one is '15 and one in '16).

Thanks for the info, Nils. Totally agree on their estimates. Especially for a continuation Stratos - I don't see it trading for authentic Stratos dollars.

Shame it didn't make it to production. Stoschek did his best but...

NurScud, I'm impressed! Not many people know who Michael Stroschek is, not even Stratos fans.

I really loved the project, i already have the book with the whole procedure of making the car from a 430 Scuderia and for a moment back then i was expecting to make some more cars. I've seen Mr Stoschek racing his good, old Stratos and yes, it is a shame that this car didn't make it. It's a person that i admire a lot. They made a great effort tohether with Chris Hrabaleck for making the project real.

One of the few projects/homage which i really loved it.
