Speaking of which I agree that Massa did a great job it was only the engine fail which was absolute bad luck that stop him from getting the championship that was unfortunate. The probem his form was ok at the start of 2010 he lead before the German gp. Alonso wanting to pass with the team saying Alonso is faster than you is embrassing and cruel way to say it to try to get Alonso no.1 status was what cushed him. Though I think if he was going prove himself better he should of done a better job. So yeah it was probably what made him morale wise destroy.

In 2007, Hamilton lost the WDC by entering the pit lane too fast at the Chinese GP (if I remember rightly) and beaching his car in the gravel trap.
Had he avoided that, he was on course to be the first driver to win the WDC during his first year in F1.
No wonder why Alonso was -***** off with his young team mate !!!

  3. There's a gazillion permutations of "could haves", "should haves", and "would haves".

In the end "what ifs" don't matter; what was is what counts. :)

Alonso was pissed off because RD gave preferential treatment to Hamilton, whom Alonso quickly found out to be a lying little ****. When Hamilton then went on to ignore team orders, and RD not sorting it to his satisfaction, all gloves where off. Alonso and Dennis hated each other, Alonso receiving minimal support and he was off to renault.

Elton still drove into the pitlane too fast. He didn't his manage his tires properly (something that others directly behind him WHERE doing), and lost the race and ultimately the championship.

I think Alonso signed at McLaren on the understanding he would be Number 1, under no threat from a young partner, and would have preferential treatment. Hamilton had shown some promises in GP2, Ron Dennis had just promoted his protégé to F1, and wasn't going to keep him on a leach.
Hamilton's arrival in F1 was a breath of fresh air, comparable to Max Verstappen.
Like him, he challenged the established order. A star was born.

The irascible Spaniard got his ego bruised by his young team mate who could match his speed, and blamed Ron Dennis for not reining him in. I think Ron Dennis took great pleasure watching Alonso getting aggravated by Hamilton, and the atmosphere became so bad the Spaniard decided to move on, but not before causing damage to the team and Ron Dennis.

Yes, Hamilton messed up entering the pits and throw this chance to win the title. 2007 was one of his best years, IMO, and he deserved the championship more that year than the following one.

I normally don't subscribe to conspiracy theories But I'm convinced that Ron D was told by
the powers to be that he has to throw away the championship and make it look realistic.
Hence LH beaching and Kimi had a succession of un answered wins to get the WDC all
while the Mac was plenty competitive to at least disrupt Kimi's late charge in the season - I'm just saying ;)

    Totally agreed.

Also the seemingly idiotic pit strategy in Sao Paulo killed Hamilton's race. After Stepneygate McCheaters just couldn't win the title, it would have been unfair and the FIA/Bernie intervened behind the scenes.

Kimi was the right winner that season. He had the most wins, the most points, and suffered 2 DNF's due to engine failures.

Both Mclaren's 1 dnf each due to their own fault (Alonso dropped it spectacularly in Fuji, Hamilton beached himself in the worlds smallest gravel trap)

And there's one other thing that happened, that isn't public, and Alonso definitely had his revenge on Ron before he went to Renault. I can't say what it was because I would get some people into trouble as it's very little known, but I trust the source as it was first hand knowledge

A far-fetched theory in my book.

Why would Ron Dennis be told to throw away a championship chance?

Sorry, but I think this is complete nonsense as it again lacks a lot of logic...
IF the WDC would be intended by the FIA they would have not let the McLaren go with a point lead into the last race...Because in case Raikkonen would have had a DNF for any reason there would have been nothing they can do to prevent a McLaren to get the title. So IF they would have wanted the Ferrari to win the title they would have needed to make sure the Ferrari goes with at least 1 point lead into the last race!!! Because then they could have staged a WDC even in an event that was not in their hands: a Ferrari DNF.
So this conspiracy makes no sense at all!

  17. I remember, at the time, reading of disk shaped craft with multi coloured lights flashing around their perimeters, flying in formation in the area of the GPs.....

    Could it have been......?

According to post 562, Hamilton would be distraught by what Berger would say about him.

In fact, he isn't even mentioned in the article.

    Another false flag .....

The point of the article, and my own comment, since you seemed to have missed it, was that Berger rates verstappen as a driver with a lot in common with Senna. Berger would know, given he was very close to ayrton, and despite being no slouch himself, was totally dominated by ayrton. He saw ayrton at close, first hand. You are right, he didn't mention elton, that's because he doesn't see anything Senna-like in elton worth discussing, anymore than in anyone else.

My humourous introduction inferred that elton wouldn't be happy, as all his career he has claimed to be 'the next senna' and the one person who knew Senna well enough to judge from a racers point of view doesn't think so, and actually rates a guy barely more than a rookie as Senna's potential successor in style and skill. Elton's fans are undoubtedly not going to be happy either, years of their BS about his godliness wiped out categorically. We know he has a yellow helmet, where most have pink phnar phnar, but that's where the similarities end it seems... hehehe

    :) :)

(By the way, I've noted you quote some posts by me or others two or three times sometimes to try to draw attention to them, and in particular, using a post number (although in this case, the post number of your own 'quoting' post rather than the original you intended, and I'd like to bet that's to try to cause some moderation issue for myself or other posters other times? I don't think posting a link to an f1 commentary site is a crime is it? nor is having a personal opinion different to yours. I do hope you aren't becoming the guy we all have to be wary of like the guy that sits at the exact speed limit everywhere, and rings the cops when anyone overtakes him, that would be a shame )

Also noticable in that Berger did not mention Nicole Rosberg either, even though he was the guy negotiating his contract for 2017 :)

Nice article...it's a nice read for those who doubt Alesi's talent....

Why would he. Rosberg has a life and does not need Senna comparison's to validate his existence at all. Life goes on and not being a Senna wanna be is a nice state of mind LOL!

Nico is looking at Stanford in the US for additional study. Good for him - Reigning world champion Nico Rosberg is considering study options at Stanford University after visiting the college earlier this week as part of his tour around California. (NBC Sports)

Yes, and he didn´t mention my grandmother either...difference is neither my grandmother herself nor her fans ever compared her to Senna like Lewis and his followers did all the time ;)

Yep, Nico is very sensible, and all the fame and success didn't go to his head, it seems.

    I miss him.
