A dedicated thread to collectibles made of the first Super Ferrari and one of the greatest cars to come out of the factory, the great 288 GTO or as it is officially known, simply GTO.

    Some books include:

The Book of the Ferrari 288 GTO
    Joe Sackey

    Ferrari GTO
    Jurgen Lewandowski

Models have been made in all scales, using every type of production method from mass production cast metal or plastic "toys" sold in big box stores to hand made metal and resin models made in short runs or one offs, and everything in between.

A few of the models to start off include a short run in 1/14 scale made by ABC Brianza and in 1/43 by Vencenzo Bosica, both of which feature open and close doors and hoods.

And more recently in 1/18 by BBR.

Let's fill this thread with all the great examples of collectibles of this most fantastic Ferrari, the mighty GTO.

As Marshall Buck has stated, one of the most important things to get right on a model are the ride height and the wheels. This is especially true for the GTO.

The cars from this period had quite a large gap between the wheels and the edge of the wheel well and though the wheels on the GTO were wide, they were only 16" in diameter so it is important not to over inflate the wheels and to keep them contained within the wheel wells; even though the wheel wells are obviously over sized on the GTO by design.

OK, well then, I'll take that one off my wishlist. :)

In 1:18 the options include BBR, Looksmart, or Hot Wheels.

Though the BBR may be sterile and lacking in "art" compared to the limit production hand built models, BBR typically gets the shape right and the models have nice, crisp details.

The Heco is a little short and the Makeup is a little long. :)

The best version in 1/43? Perhaps it's the Bosica.

Absolutely incredible! For someone who don't know you could almost think it's the real car pictured.
