I agree that there could be more torque below 4000rpm in the 360. Especially when using catback set with no valves. Otherwise fun and very drivable car that makes you smile and heads turn with it's ageless exterior design. Excellent boulevard cruiser too. I have no intentions to track mine, at least for now.

I might add that it takes perfect shifts at exactly right rpms to hit that 4.5sec with a three pedal car. Few master that skill but most people don't. But so what! Doesn't take away from the enjoyment of owning this artwork of a car.

Guys - I hear ya - my 360 feels fast and it's a load of toss able fun -- but all I did was a standard Google search on Ferrari 360 1/4 and 0-60 times - and that's where the algorithm dropped me - top of first page -- it's clearly data amalgamated from other places and not verified - I still love my lowly F1 Modena ...

NONE of you answered the OP. The answer is that my 360 is that fast because I lie about the actual numbers ;)

    Still wouldn't trade it for a 430.

3.7s...must have been a press car on a down hill slop with a 50 mph tailwind. My wife's SL63...almost 4,000 pound car could walk my 360 pretty much 0 to anything. That said, I enjoyed the heck out of it for 6 years and never a regret.

My Mondial made a great noise but never felt fast.
F355 very similar but was obviously quicker. Just did not really feel it.

My 360 seems to be on a completely different planet regarding speed and power.
I think maybe the Mondial is just not that quick but the F355 perhaps had an issue.

I love the way the 360 feels and drives and feels years ahead of the F355 I had. However that was my F355 and my 360. I think from car to car they can feel different. My pal has an F355 (Berlinetta 2.7 at that time) and said my F355 felt it was holding back compared to his. Mine was the 5.2 later car.

If I obsessively cared about bench racing, there's an easy remedy...buy the latest vette or hellcat type car. Those cars are designed for guys that need to have the biggest swinging d__k on Saturday night at the donut shop.

I love all the 'magazine racers' that these venues bring out. Many of whom have no Ferrari or experience with cars they are espousing on, other than what they read in Road & Track.

I have been on track with many 430's and Scuds and have made short work of them.... but I have been racing and instructing for a long time. Therein lies the rub. All of these cars are extremely fast..... in the right hands. I'm sure that Kimi could lap the best of us while driving a minivan.

If you think this or that car is slow, I would bet that you haven't been close to the car's limits without an underwear change. If you think the car is slow, go take lessons and I bet it gets faster.

Agreed, my father used to say the car will only go as fast as YOU can drive it ..very true.

I have done a fair bit of racing, and the track is of course the only place you should attempt to get anywhere near the limit of your road car.

I don't disagree on what you're saying but it's not the point. The point is the capacity and the capability of the 360 compared to F430s and other newer models.

He is a typical example of us Finns. Doesn't say much but gets the job done.

Turn off the driver aids and flog it and the car is a masterful handful. It's fun as hell and that's why it's a keeper for me. Every time i drive a more powerful newer Ferrari, I don't seem to have as much fun. Maybe if all I could do was track time, but that's not the real word for me.

there is no way in a million years that a gutless F360 is faster than a F430 in a million years due to the huge torque difference

So I guess it's like what a viper does to a slightly less "gutless" f430? ;)

    66-75 ft-lbs is a "huge torque difference"?

Ugh coming from the Porsche forums to classic Ferraris I thought I had left the car X vs car Y animosity behind. :/

LOL. The F430 drivers I've passed on track in my gutless 360 (spider stick, no less), must be pretty embarrassed, then! Either that, or a million years have gone by and we didn't know it.

Like someone said before, it's not all HP that counts on track. It's what is between the drivers seat and the steering wheel. Skills. Especially with these cars that don't have super-sophisticated driving aids like the 488 has...

Kimi Räikkönen would beat all of us at a racetrack with an ice cream van! =)
