Exactly the problem our club has been experiencing over the last handful of years. More people joining the club, less people actually driving them. People complain about the drive being too long, the food was no good, I had to use half a tank of fuel etc. etc.
Those members who love their cars for what they are, CARS, don't give two fooks about how far we have to drive or what the food will be like, as long as they roads are great fun. It's a period of pissing contests, as Wes put it, to see who has the biggest and shiniest. Its disappointing, but myself and a few others, are doing our best to bring the passion for driving back into our club.

No, I'm not saying the GG is a poor relation at all. Let me rephrase. I attempt to make my club drives a LOT more interesting and faster than recent drives. The old days of 100 mph averages are sadly gone, because of the amount of policing, but, by going a little further afield, and taking the secondary roads, as does the GG, the drives are much better and we can still see reasonably big numbers.

Or the ones I organised until they were deemed by the idiotic Vic Pres at the time that they were too low class for the "Ferrari club"

I even heard "We're not the mini club, you know"

Thank god the powers that be finally woke up to that particular Fwit and got rid of him.

Hahaha. I've been guilty of saying 'We're not the Lada club", but in reference to the speed some members travel at!

hear, hear for that! Fantastic drive, on roads less travelled. Colleen and I had a great day, thanks.More please! Also great to see some different areas - Gold Coast hinterland has some lovely roads, but any car person has driven them a billion times. Plus I'm glad the food was a sidebar to the drive, rather than the other way around.

unfortunately though, I think we're the odd ones out... shame.

PS and a big boo to all the Qlders who didn't turn up- hope you enjoyed your lattes.
