I am going to go with this one.

 

Had a buddy who was a middleweight boxer, and then a referee back in the day. Later went on to score fights as a judge. I learned a thing or two from him.

Also went to a fight or two with him, spent some time in the locker room after the fights, where the difference between the winner and loser was not easy to tell, EXCEPT only one guy was being interviewed by the papers.

Or maybe Mayweather bets all his earnings on McGregor winning and then makes a lot more money by losing?

That "0" means alot to FM. I really think he is doing this to get an EASY 50th win.

 

I just don't get how this can be counted as a "professional" boxing win and "win number 50"

It's going to have a big asterisk next to it in the history books. This opponent has never even fought in the amateurs let alone professionally. LOL

 

Let's not get ahead of ourselves and assume FM winning is a forgone conclusion!

That said, I agree there will be much debate about the CM's ranking if FM wins, especially if he wins easily.

 

If Mcgregor doesn't KO Mayweather Mayweather will win.

All for the simple fact...

BOXING CAN NOT AFFORD TO LOSE.

Even If Mayweather has his eyeball hanging out of his head at the end of the 12th the victory will go to Mayweather. Boxing simply can not afford the best "pound for pound" perfect record boxer... lose in points/skill to a rookie in boxing from a RIVAL league.

Call it a conspiracy theory. I call it survival. There is absolutely no way regardless of how good CM does that if it goes to 12 rounds he wins.

Please keep in mind I am not saying CM will make FM eye hang out of his head etc... I am just stating my opinion that the fix was in from day 1 if it goes to points.

Boxing... the dying sport (at least at the moment) cant afford to lose to the UFC.

Now who is going to win? Who knows... most likely floyd but I always cheer for the underdog

 

Boxing has been since the exodus of Tyson. Lewis and Holyfield were great fighters, but not that exciting. Pacquiao in his prime was exciting to watch IMO. That was worth paying a few bucks to see him beat up people bigger than him. Mayweather is exciting when he's hyping a fight and running his mouth. He's the best hype man there is. Unfortunately when he steps into the ring afterward, it's nothing but yawns and boredom. Boxing is long overdue for another great champion. It will happen, my guess is sooner than people think.

CM is going to bounce that small head of FMs off the canvas and his brittle hands won't be able to pick him up. He is going to need "voltron" and the juice turkeys to come pick him up

This is not a fight but a SPECTACLE only to be hyped by the theatrics/acting leading up to the spectacle.

I'm not going to watch nor feed(pay for) the lifestyles of the promoters and/or Mayweather/Mcgregor to watch this spectacle. I will catch it on ESPN the next day.

 

It's a circus alright but I just love watching McGregor's prefight antics. What a showman (clown?) in the circus. Where can you get that kind of entertainment for 100 bucks? But to your point it is a sad day for boxing. Without getting too philosophical think about every facet of our society including sports, business and human decency for that matter. They've all deteriorated and I for one don't see any recovery. All one has to do is look around, watch the news etc and figure out that that we're pretty much doomed as a society. It's all about the bucks today nothing more. Sports (boxing) is no different than any other money grabbing business. It's not the exception today, it's the rule.

Fair enough, I'm not too familiar with the laws in America (I only ever go there to Vegas to watch fights and NYC) but here in England it's illegal to bet on yourself in a sporting event - didn't realize you're allowed to there.

 

I didn't specifically mean CM will bet against himself since I don't know if that's allowed, either. Surely he can have other family members bet against him using his money.

Yep, that is exactly what he will do and has probably done for his entire career.

My Wife's friend's first Cousin named Carl used to play professional Rugby League here in Australia.

These guys are as young as 18 and earn big money, so they get side tracked a lot with drugs, booze, women and gambling.

Well, this dude used to gamble lol. A LOT! Loved the pokies and used to love betting on his team to win (or lose, I don't know.......) and he would also bet on himself to be 'first try scorer' in some big games.

Anyway, he was not allowed to bet on himself, but he asked his Cousin Justine to do it for him.

And she did, sometimes bets of up to $10,000 cash. Which would always get him a return. Sometimes $2000 back, sometimes $50,000 back.

I don't know which games all this happened in as it was over 10 years ago, but makes ya wonder eh?

He and his family were not allowed to bet on anything related to the team or players in the team. But they always had someone do it for them.

He wasn't the only one, they reckon this practice happens all over the world in every sport and I believe it too.

 

That's also illegal here as you're still using money to bet on yourself whichever way you look at it.

Even if Connor was to risk it then the amounts he'd have to place would raise suspicions and would likely be investigated in the extremely unlikely event of him winning the fight.

 

Im not at all suggesting that this would happen but its easier than you think.

A CEO of a company could easily place a large personal bet. IF it pays off... Connor gets sold a piece of the company at a favorable rate.

Maybe its as simple as having access to a corporate jet for 1000 dollars an hour. for 5000 hours.

These are outlandish things... and I don't think this is going on... but if you think it takes cash to make a bet or shift value... you would be surprised
