I have not owned CCM braking system until recently. In the past with cars equipped with steel rotors, I always go for a short drive after washing the car. That's mainly done for heavy braking to heat up the brakes in order to dissipate the moisture and minimize rust on the rotors.

Is the same needed for the CCM braking system?

BTW, I watched the youtube video on the production of CCM rotors at Brembo, and it looks like the bulk of the material are resin/ceramic and carbon fiber, with small amount of tungsten added. If only little metal ingredient is added, rust is probably not going to be much.

Same for steel brakes as the next time you use it they will clean up in seconds, and won't infect the rest of the car with rust. Soon "we" will be pulling down engines after every run and polishing oil galleries ...

Please remember it is a CAR and designed for use in rain, etc.

When I wash the 458 (CCM), the brakes are fine; when I wash the Z06 (steel), the brakes lock up solid. But you are right about the cars meant to be driven in the rain.

  5. All four? Or, 'just the parking brakes? If parking only, leave 'em off 'til dry. ;)

All 4 regular brakes; I don't even try to use the parking brake. And by locked-up, I mean solid. I made caliper shields out of old milk cartons, which help, but you really need to keep the direct spray off the wheels. Which means you've got to clean the wheels by hand.

  7. For some reason 'takes me back to the 1966 jingle.... "Wouldn't you really rather have a Buick? A Buick. '66 Buick?.....(etc., etc.)" :)
