I have no opinion on value, but it sure looks beautful to me and with everything being fully restored I am sure it is amazing to drive. I hope whoever buys it drives it 1,000s of happy miles.

Speaking of happy miles had a great drive today. The puppy is still not sure if he likes old or new cars though. Am going to take the TdF home to Maranello for the 70th in September and probably will do the almost 1,000 mile rally from London. Should be fun!

Good on you Mark. That rally will be loads of fun. Values are just numbers and good memories are worth far more than money alone.

Just saw Bonhams' pictures of the car, and the nose looks strange to me, too.

I cannot think of a single closed headlight car that was crash repaired or "re-created" and would not look "strange" afterwards. Even some generally praised cars look so terrible that I am 100% sure they have been involved in an accident we don't know of.

Sort of funny that factory authorizes these repairs even if it is clear thay have NO IDEA how the cars should really look like. I am tempted to think that neither do they care as long as the cash register keeps cha-shinging! I think this is very unfortunate for the owners who operate in good faith.

Fake or a rebody. Body details seriously off-shape.

A knowlegeable French Ferraristi shed some light on this car: it seems to be a second car using the SN 0899GT.

According to the Bonhams description, the 'second 0899 GT' is built on a '250 GT' chassis (one would assume PF, Boano or Ellena from the period).
The rear bodywork of the car is what survived from a crash where the real 0899 GT lost its original body.
So a bitsa/built-up car on a Ferrari chassis using the rear sheet metal from a real TDF.

Do you think it's a sheer coincidence if this strange TdF reappears in France in this small Concours d'Elegance during the Bonhams auction in USA. Pure speculation, I think it's the second 0899GT the one who claims the original rear end... Coincidences of life...

I am trying to do some research on 250 TdF headliners (yes I know I need to get a life). Does anyone have any opinions on what the correct material should be? I believe it should be smooth light colored vinyl with small holes.

If anyone has any original pictures that would be even better. Thank you!

Image Unavailable, Please Login Wow a 50 F / 10 C sunny day in New York in January! It’s TdF time. Had a wonderful one hour drive and with some cardboard in the front, managed to get 0895gt nicely up to temperature and she ran beautifully.
