Looking hard at 458 Spiders. Thanks to the slight bubble roof, there's about a inch of headroom for me. I'd been looking at sport seats, which seem to give another 1/2 inch or so. I just had a salesman measure the height of the cushion of the Daytona seats, the regular sears and the carbons.

It's clear that the Daytonas give an inch more room than the regular seats and a 1/2 more than the carbons. I can fit them all, but the Daytona seats are the lowest and are much more adjustable than the carbons.

    Hi

I don't wish to sound pedantic but I'm not sure your research is correct..

There are lots of threads on hearbabout seats if you search but in summary

Daytona is a seat pattern not a seat type.

There are only 2 seat types

Standard- which can be manual or electrically adjusted with either standard pattern cover or Daytona cover

Race seats - which can have a lifter or adjustable via moving the mounting bolts in 3 locations with either the goldrake cover or the Daytona cover.

I haven't got a tape measure out but the race seats set on the lowest setting will give the maximum available headroom

Just to confirm Daytona is the cover on the seat not the seat type.

    Regards

    Michael

IMO, the race seats are the lowest with less cushion and also IMO, the most comfortable

But everyone has their own ass. :)

For sure race seats are the lightest and the most expensive.

One other thing: If you have a tough time finding headroom in a 458 don't bother looking for a 246 Dino gt. You'll have to leave your head out the window. :)

The headroom is actually OK. About an inch with the standard seats. It would be nice to have another inch. I need to try a 458 Spider with the Daytonas.

I hear you about the Dino. I tried to take an I8 on the track with a helmet. I was forced to crawl out sideways.

Daytona are not a seat type....you can have Daytona cover on standard seat or race seat......

Race seat set on the lowest setting regardless of what cover it has on it will give the most headroom

    Hi Michael,

You may well be right. I'm not arguing with you. I'm only responding with the information sent to me by a salesman. I've driven a Spider with racing seats and they certainly give more headroom than the standard seats. The fact is that I also really like the look of the racing seats and I found them to be very comfortable.

The problem I have is finding the spec that I want. Please let me know if you know of a TDF blue over cuoio or crema, with less than 5000 miles LOL. I actually found that spec on a 488. The dealer is asking $370,000 😮😮!!! Way, way out of my range. But beautiful.

The OP has me confused (and I'm tall and 458 may be in my future).

I thought Daytona's are not a "seat type", but really just a pattern in the leather cover?

How can the daytona covered regular seat be 1" lower than the regular seat without daytona cover?

The thread title seems to be anything but accurate. More questions that "definitive answer" have been raised.

EDIT: I see 100badboy100 corrected the info. Two seat types (regular and sport, right?). And then you can get different covers (daytona, diamond pattern, etc).

One last question - do the regular seats perhaps change a bit in terms of height if the mechanicals are inside for full electric adjustment? I doubt it, but wondering if that might be why the OP got info with 2 seat heights for the "regular" and "daytona covered regular".

Oh, one more, can any dealer change the seat height mounting points on the sports seats? (meaning is it a simple thing to change if I need to?)

That is true. However most do not order the "full electric seats" though. And, you can top the cost of your seats by ordering Racing Daytona Style seats.

The cost of the Daytona with electric is less than Racing, and racing seats are lighter.

And, I still think the Racing seats were the most comfortable, at least to my bottom! :)

A couple of nice one's in those colors here: (both below and above 5000 miles)

If you get one, please treat it well so I can buy it in the future :)

(not many of us that love TDF on these cars - only 8 out of 137 came up when I spec'd "blue" on cars.com)

Another few blue cars come up when spec'ing paint color as "other": (some are pozzi, some are TDF)
