Why the hiatus in '60? (though there is a seam in the grille center ...) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Funny you ask the question. When we were doing our research in the '90's, we found out that the design staff wasn't sure of the public acceptance of the '59 Pontiac with the split grille. Since the cars are designed before the public can 'live' with them they abandoned the split grille for 1 yr in 1960. After that the decision was made to use the twin port grilles thereafter.........much to BMW's ultimate chagrin
Thank you! Everything ultimately influences everything else more or less. I was long gone from Oldsmobile when the Aurora was done in an Advanced Studio.
I absolutely love the new lincoln navigator interior. The exterior is very very nice as well nothing completely inspiring... but a very nice departure from what lincoln has been doing for the last 15 years. The interior is AMAZING. Whats crazy is the demographic of the Navigator buyer. The numbers are INSANE
The XKE has a relatively 'shallow' body side compared to the 275's thicker section. I'd love to compare the body sections to see just how much 'fuller' the Jag is compared to the 275 which came after Enzo declared the Jag the 'most beautiful car in the world'. The 275 has a very full upper door section, then it flattens out as it goes down the door. The Jag has a 'full' section in the entire door.
No that particular sketch came when I was in Pontiac trying to share bodyside inners with Olds. So I came up with a Cutlass proposal to show them how it's done. Did a Chevrolet version also. I thought I read where the Aurora was a concept that was pitched to the various divisions. Ultimately Olds took it.

CMJ labeled it 'the Tube Car' because of the bodyside section. I can't recall if it was always slated for Olds or not.

Interesting. A lot of Lamborghini with Alfa wheels and maybe some Fioravanti mixed in. Considering how bad the Enzo was this is a big step in the right direction
If I remember correctly it was late 50s with an annual income of greater than 350k per year... There was some crazy statistic of something like 70% of the buyers pay cash. I worked for BMW for 10 years and our x5 buyers were NO WHERE NEAR THAT.
