Is it the perfect car? No. Electronics are 2 gens behind and the stereo still sucks.

    But...

I really do like the engine sound (perhaps a spider enables a better aural experience)
The frame is stiffer than the 458 spider (al dente noodle)
    More torque and improved handling.
External magnetic trickle charger connection (must be the Apple guy's contribution)
I don't think there's anything comparable at the moment (720 spider is 2 yrs away)

Considering pinning the exhaust valve open (did it on my F12 and never looked back) and lowering it a little.

For those who think I feel this way because I own it therefore self validating, my stable has/does include F12, 918, P1, 911R, 991GT3RS, 458, 458 Spider, Carrera GT and many others.

Does pinning the exhaust open lessen the pops from the exhaust? I had 458 Speciale with Capristo switch couldn't figure out why it wasn't popping. The 488 Spider popped more but didn't pin (or is it ECU related)

The paint looks stunning! Bold choice.

How does it stand up against finger prints? I saw a matt grey 458 in London a few weeks back and it looked great but it was really showing a lot of finger prints.

Nice car! Will you be bothering to keep the 458s? Interested to know your opinion ...

Darker colors generally will show finger prints more.

A satin finish actually hides blemishes better than gloss.

I've sold my 458(s) awhile ago. 458 is a great car.

Personally, I like the 488 better, especially as a spider, but everyone has their own priorities for liking a car.

Pinning the exhaust valve open will not change the pops on over runs. If anything you hear more burbles at low RPMs.

At least that is what I found on my F12. I don't think it will be different on the 488.

Factory satin finish. Instead of a clear coat that reflects light (gloss finish), the satin clear coat detracts light.

What you get in a Ford, let alone a Tesla or even the current Porsche sedan really shows you how behind Ferrari's electronics are.

Most of my comment is related to infotainment I admit. Keyless start (finally!) but no keyless entry??

This doesn't diminish the reasons why one buys and enjoys Ferraris of course. You just kind of wish, especially since the technology is readily available.

Totally agree, and I added the valve control and lowered mine slightly on the stock springs and shocks. Incredible car!

You are correct. No change in exhaust note except in low to medium RPM situations with partial throttle or down shifts. That's were it makes a huge difference.

Ah, the importantant matter of toys, okay. I thought you were talking about trivial stuff, like electronic differentials and dynamic control systems...

To be honest while the infotainment system would have deserved more attention there are so-called modern features that I'd be happy to miss - keyless start, what's the point? you need the key anyway, so keeping it in your pocket instead of plugin into the dashboard is not a huge benefit... and then the worst of all, the electric handbrake that makes it difficult for you to decide when you use it or not - seriously, which driver needs help to start on a slope?

Yeah, no kidding re: parking brake.

I am used to keyless on my cars start now. Needs keyless entry to be truly "leave-the-key-in-your-pocket-or-bag".

Amazing how I got used to something that I didn't know I needed before! :)

Incredible looking machine GP. Would love to see it lowered. Thinking of going the Novitec route for that?
