Looks like a vintage photo with those old Agip pumps and gas station. Nice.

Have a wonderful time! I hope to see you there!

A last minute camera suggestion is the Sony RX100v (5th edition). Its not cheap but it will take better pics than the iPhone and the camera can become a wifi hotspot where you can sync the camera and phone via Sony app and copy the pics right to the phone so you can easily share. If you want more of a zoom lens, they make an RX10 (3rd edition). It has a mega mega zoom. The RX100 can fit in a pocket. The RX10 looks like a ⅓ size SLR.

What an exciting adventure you are about to embark upon! Have fun!!

But.... this is not a car. It is a piece of art! You don't need a plate on a Picasso to move it across the borders

Shout out to Danny, Charlie, Nick and the rest of the awesome service team at Wide World Ferrari in New York. Checking the car over and also filling in the Ferrari checklist for the rally.

Can you share approximately how much it is to air freight the car over?

Sure, it's been a real pain this time actually to get a good flight. Normally I just send the cars on a commercial flight, typically Virgin and cost is around $6/7k. (Which by the way always seems like good value when you can fly an entire car for about the cost of a first class ticket for a person.)

This time however there have been all sorts of issues, coming from the TSA I believe, about someone who is not a "known shipper" shipping "dangerous cargo" and I apparently have no choice but to use a cargo service. The best option seemed to be Cargolux and the cost seems to be almost double the cost of Virgin. You can then add a couple of thousand each end for agents doing the clearing, add insurance for the flights and the road trip ($3,600 IIRC) and the cost of a truck from Maranello to London on the return (don't have a price yet) and add a return flight (I think Virgin is ok for inbound flights, go figure).

I think those are the rough numbers, I am trying not to add it up and stay a little bit in denial of total cost.

Mark - what a great idea and what a great trip you have ahead of you. I have not checked in in F -chat for a more than 2 months and just stumbled upon this thread. You have given me inspiration to use my cars more often and do something similar to you.

I wish you an incredible beautiful adventure and keep us posted on your trip!
    all best Edmond

This is my favorite thread on FChat right now.
I can't wait each morning to see the pictures each day and get the updates.
And it's only going to get better......

I can't imagine owning such an amazing automobile and having the ability to enjoy it for what it is.

I'm living vicariously through you Roma! Keep on posing.
