So I was just pulled over for not having the temp tag in my back window (it's taped to the inside of my windshield). This is the first time I've ever been pulled over in this state lol.

I told the officer that that's how the car was delivered, and that I thought that they put it where they did due to safety. He argued that it didn't matter due to the law (etc, etc, etc).

Got home, called the dealer, and they said that they've never heard of an issue. They agreed that they didn't think it was safe to put it in the back (above the engine) due to the heat and whatnot.

    Anyone run across this?

LEOs like to pull over exotics just to get a closer look. Let them have their jolly and move on.

Neither lol... Just said it was supposed to be in the back, then went back to his bike w/ my license and paperwork, then came back, handed me everything back, and said the same thing and walked away. No "warning" or anything really.

He wasn't exactly a very happy, or talkative person...

I'm sure the families of the six police officers shot yesterday in Pennsylvania and Florida feel the same way.

Why didn't your dealer put your temp tag where your plates are supposed to go, on the rear bumper? All they have to do is use a plastic dealer frame as support and that's it.

Call your dealer and have them reimburse you for the cost of the ticket, you should not be held liable for their negligence. Years ago I received a ticket because my dealer didn't file the paperwork to have my tags sent... got a ticket and made the dealer reimburse me for the expense.

I've had good and bad experiences with LEO pulling me over for one thing or other... usually when I'm not driving my Ferrari :)

I apologize for going off topic a bit.

My son is a CHP officer, and I tell him all the time to be polite and compassionate when he pulls someone over. I remind him that the typical guy he pulls over probably has a lot of problems and concerns weighing on him (who doesn't)...worried about his job, problems at home, a sick child, medical bills, IRS audit, behind on his mortgage, etc. And now he gets pulled over by the CHP...which is always upsetting no matter who you are. I encourage him to always treat the person he pulls over like he'd want any other LEO to treat his mother :) That usually gets to him :)

BTW, he always tells me that he has never given a Ferrari guy a ticket...only warnings :) And he always asks them about their Ferrari and tells them about his dad's Ferraris :)

One caveat: drunk or impaired driving. No CHP officer can go easy on a drunk or impaired driver. I think we can all agree on that :)

I had this experience in Vegas when I just moved there. I brought my F430 spider to LV and turned in the plates to register the car. The temp was on the front windshield. No plate in the back.

I'm leaving the Hard Rock hotel about 1 in the morning on a Saturday night. I'm driving with the top down down Paradise road enjoying myself along with the rest of the traffice when a cycle cop pulls me over.

The cop comes over and asks me if I've been drinking. I say no (I don't drink). He looks at me kinda disappointed as he can see I'm obviously not drunk.

Then he asks me for my license. I show him my Nevada license. I see on his face "Damn, he's not from California".

Then he asks me for my registration. I give him my temp and I see on this face "Dammit, he's legal".

So he tickets me for 5 MPH over the speed limit of 45. I guess he felt he had to do something!

Yeah, I'm a pretty staunch cop supporter, but have zero sympathy for guys who work traffic. They spend their days giving mostly nonsense tickets and wonder why even the law abiding public doesn't support them anymore. Here in Denver we have a controlled access HOV lane with concrete barriers on each side - literally zero risk to drive as fast as you want in there but they still sit in there and it's like shooting fish in a barrel.

I've spent about 5 hours today driving around running errands. Within a 5 miles radius from my home, I saw 7 LEOs pulling over drivers giving tickets. Must be that time of the month to turn in their quotas. What a racket.

    ouch

I was staying at a friends place in Orlando and had rented a Camaro from Hertz for a week. He warned me of this one street that cuts through a residential area due to the 20 or so stop signs, so when I was driving through, I made sure to stop at every sign (this was in the evening).

I had just made it through, having stopped at the final sign, and was heading off to a faster road when I hard a siren and flashing lights behind me.

So I stopped, wondering what's up. The officer comes up to me and says I didn't stop at a stop sign (total BS, I knew very well I had stopped at all of them, but I digress).

So he asks to see papers, yadda yadda.

Long story short, not only was I in a rental, but he also didn't know what to do with someone that has a Swiss drivers license and a Finnish passport.

I saw he was disappointed when he gave up told me to just go on my way...

Anyway, I have friends that serve as Police and Security staff, and we have car-nut cops that also come to our cars & coffee meetings. Sometimes there's just one out there that makes the rest look bad :\

I was stopped by a cop in my verde ithaca Balboni. He approached the window and inquired as to where I was going. Requested my registration and went back to his cruiser. Came back 5 minutes later to offer suggestions as to where we might go for a scenic lunch.

In our province, a front license plate is required which I never use. The cop made no mention of its absence.

Right after I got my Modena, I was out for a drive late at night. Approaching a light, it changes yellow....I give it a little gas. What I thought was a little was enough to open the exhaust valves in the muffler....

LEO on a side street, pulls out. Gets on my right side quarter and hangs there. Pulls up to the passenger side, asks me if I want to race him in his new Explorer. I ask him if I get a free pass if I win. Says with a grin, nope. Then I make his night and say, if you want me to pull over, I will at the station up ahead. I see his expression and he says, if you WANT to pull over, go ahead but I'm not gonna ask you. He speeds ahead to get to the station before me as I pull in. We walks over and I realize that my weapon is in plain view behind the seats. I tell him as he's looking over the car and he says, I'd have one too if I drove this!

Then he calls his Sargent and has him come over. Sargent pulls up and tells him if you hit this car, I'll shoot you on the spot! Had a good time, got invites for ridealongs, etc.

Just remember, LEO are people too and in most cases they are doing a thankless job having to deal with the worst people and situations possible. Anything you can do to ease their mind is greatly appreciated and I've talked to many and work with many and each and everyone of them will tell you, the best thing you can do is tell them thanks for the job they do. Are there some bad apples, sure just like in every profession but for the most part, they are just doing their job.

One last thing to think about...when you have a bad day at work, what's the worst that can happen...you get fired? When a cop has a bad day, they don't come home.

I've always heard that their "revenue generation" activity spikes at the end of the month as they scramble to make their quotas.

I was once driving my Maranello on a four-lane divided highway when my Valentine went off. Sure enough, it was a trooper going the other way. I wasn't speeding so no big deal. But I watched in the rear view mirror as he hung a U and started coming up behind me. I had to turn the Valentine off because it was getting really annoying. Well, the trooper finally caught up with me and pulled along side. He gave me a thumbs up and then peeled off the other direction. I'm guessing I made his day.
