I purchased a 2006 612 with just 8000km on the clock - showroom condition in Grigio Ingrid, the launch colour.
My first trip was from London to Knokke le Zoute in Belgium and the best part is that there's no agreement between the continent and the UK when it comes to transferring speed tickets.
The radio is the most useless feature of the car - the engine is a symphony by itself!
Kids in the back with smiles to their ears, we ruled the motorways in style.
After a few days I started to get all sorts of warnings (alternator, suspension etc...) - but thanks to this forum, I read that low battery loads can cause all sorts of fake news! I took my chances until the battery gave up exactly between the French and the UK border control at the Eurotunnel. Everyone was smiling as we pushed the car aside. Again, thanks to this forum I read about the + connection in the engine bay to jump start the car. I managed to get out of the terminal and to a car repair shop. A few calls later I found the correct replacement battery in Calais, took a cab to pick it up and got it replaced.
I own other classic cars so this is all part of the adventure - since then everything is flawless with the car.
Anyway, thank you all for posting great insights on this forum (I've been quite active on the AC owners forum - but I hope to contribute here as well).
Anyone driving from London to Silverstone for the 70 yr celebrations end of September?

    Wow! Great adventure!

Great to know that everything turned out well and that you are enjoying your 612. And your family too!

Post some pictures once you have the time.

Forgot to mention: opening the trunk manually is really tough and yet again this forum saved me: one thread mentioned to push down the lid gently, simultaneously when pulling the lever.
    Pics to follow...

That is great! The battery is important in the 612, for sure, and they're getting to the age where they need to be replaced (maybe for the second time!).

I keep mine on a battery tender at home.

Aren't they tremendous touring cars, though? Made for a trip like that.

Congrats on the car. And for being cool under pressure!
Road trips are what the car was made for. I just did over 2'000 kms in Switzerland and Northern Italy, 3 up, for our summer holidays. Great way to travel.

That would've been excellent. How many speeding tickets did you get?

None so far. There doesn't seem to be a link between the Italians and the Swiss when it comes to speeding tickets. At least I've never received one despite driving..ahem...enthusiastically whilst there.
There's a great road that runs from down to the East side of Genoa. That's a lot of fun in a 612 with some of the world's best food at the end of it!

Scag in Grigio Ingrid. That's close to perfection. Great looking car.
