After blasting the car we found a little hole in the air intake area behind the driver door. On one period picture I can see a little pull switch installed. Does anybody have an idea what that switch could have been for....
From the inside of the car part of the B-pillar panel was cut out and nearby in the back wall a big round hole can be found... see pictures

For sure I know from the preparation documents, that the Dino received a kill switch and two additional fuel pump with switch at the dashboard....

To me the kill switch could have sat in the big round hole with the pull switch out side at the car (little hole)?! But why a kill switch in this area with the battery in the front......

A lot of the racing Stratos had a kill switch in that area as well. Must have been in the regulations at the time. I suppose if the driver were incapacitated the kill switch could be activated by one of the track safety guys that also manned the fire extinguishers.

In racing cars the earth is routed via a kill switch so that when the switch is turned-off the battery is no longer earthed to the car. Here is an example:
    http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/battery-isolators-master-switches/lma-lucas-style-cut-out-switch

In addition to this, race cars have a fire extinguisher plumbed in which has two activation pull handles, one inside and one on an exterior panel of the car, like this:
FSE T Handle Pull Cable | Demon Tweeks

However it would be unusual to put either on the door, unless the door was sealed shut and not opened at all...

a few thoughts later I´m pretty sure the kill switch was positioned at the back wall with the pull cable located outside the car, just behind the driver door...
being the kill switch in that position, I think the switch just broke connection to the fuel pumps and set them dead...
does this make sense...? any thoughts?

I found a new picture of the Sebring Nart-Dino... it must have been taken a few days before the race... still had the original 185 VR 14 Michelin tyres on...

Sam Posey and Bob Dini sitting on the pit wall next to the Dino....

    great webpage: Sebring Race

and one question came up... how is the panel (splitter) of the main air intake hole in the front of the car fixed to the car?
attached picture of #01274 (very close to my car #01266) and it looks like the usual little threaded plate used in lots of different places in the car too...
    so, no sheet-metal screw....
    Any thoughts?

Matthias 01464 had exactly that plate. It was spot welded to the body and offered a machined thread on which to use screws that hold the splitter plate in place. The screws are not coarse thread sheet metal screws but rather slot head machine screws (I cannot remember if they are M5 or M6 by memory) just like the 4 (black painted :)) screws that hold the bar separating the rear trunk and engine compartment.

I stumbled on this thread while in the waiting room at the Doctors Office. Read all 31 pages and these types of threads are one of the reasons I have been a member for so long. Great read and congratulations on the outstanding Dinos in this thread!

#00962 also has these plates, they are M5.
The ones on the bar you mentioned are M6, I had that out last weekend.
