    Be smart! :D
The Swiss vignette is easy removable if you stick it on to a transparent adhesive vinyl.
First, let's not forget, the vignette is printed and it has its sticky side, in order to put it on the inside of your windscreen.
So, you cut a neat piece of transparent vinyl, just a little larger than the vignette, and you stick that on the inside of your windscreen. Than you stick the vignette on the vinyl! Done!
Later, if you are travelling to Switzerland again, but with a different car, you remove actually the vinyl (with vignette sticked on it) from the windsreen. Just ordinary transparent vinyl is fine. (not too sticky!)

I have been travelling non stop to and through Switzerland, with different cars, for holiday and business purposes. I have saved quite some money by doing the vinyl trick.
You buy maximum (and minimum :D) 1 vignette per year, and like that, you can use it and remove it as many times as you like, during that year. If you don't need it for some time or for the remaining months of the year, you can sell it or give it to someone you like.

Better for you that you never try to become a Swiss resident or citizen. Petty crime like this, if you get caught, can have a dramatic effect. If you can afford 5 cars, you can afford 5 vignettes that support highway maintenance as there are no highway toll in Switzerland.

Thanks for the advice on the tolls, I think I will take some CHF with me!

I understand.... but you know, and I love Switzerland, sometimes logic is VERY far away in that country.
Apart from"petty crime" there are many other reasons why 1 vignette purchase per person (who owns minimum 1 registered car) per year should be enough:
-What if you get a stone impact on your windscreen and you need a new one?
-What if you sell your car, right after you put a new vignette?
-What if your car gets stolen?
-What if your car is 24 years old, where are you going to stick the coming vignettes?
-If you can afford 5 cars, how many can you drive at the same time?
    ....

#0895gt is on the move heading to Cargolux terminal. Hoping it can be strapped directly to pallet. Nervously waiting to hear.

All the 'issues' seem to have been solved so far.

How long until you get your TDF back once it is unloaded from the plane in the UK?
Plus when are you leaving for the UK?

Unclear how long it takes to clear the other end. In theory should be just a day.

Thank you! According to the Cargolux website tracking, the car is now on the other side of the pond! No furher info or pics.

Thanks for allowing us to be voyeurs on this journey, it's fantastic.

Who actually handles the car when it needs to be moved - is there a special custodian for circumstances like this?

How does the customs process work on such a sensitive object (aka, a fully restored pristine vintage Ferrari where conservation of every single element is important)? Can they decide they need to tear up the seats if they want to ensure you didn't smuggle anything through?

    Talk about being nervous.

Sorry if someone asked earlier: do you have a GPS tracking device hidden in the car? At least an operable iPhone?

Perhaps not the best idea to disclose this on public forum ?

LOL indeed, however I did not! And I'm not just saying that. The issue is that the phone would die, so you would have to power with a lithium power pack like the one Caeruleus11 recommended earlier in the thread, except lithium batteries are not allowed. So if you hide one and they find it, you open yourself up to the seat ripping Qksilver mentioned above!

Yes there was probably another solution to track but I didn't really explore it.
