Seems original, so should earn Hermann's approval (KIAI).

Needs shields though.

 

The car was on carsales for approx 4hrs then marked sold. The CTS website still lists it as for sale.

Yep, sold within four hours because it was seriously under priced, which is unusual for CTS

 

Alternatively it sold because it was on the money for the right buyer at the right time and not overpriced. Not sure you can call it cheap, has there been a 355 like that sold for more? That's pretty strong money in a market that's softening IMO

 

They are JM, most definitely.

In another 30 years time when they are over 50 years old they will still look amazing.

I'm calling "debatable" that it's the only alloy body road car.

The joke is that the headline of Sotheby's write up says "A ONE-OFF ALLOY BERLINETTA" then the text says "Other than chassis number 12547". My recollection is that there are others (apart from the factory comp cars).

I'm calling "fake" that it's a barn find. This is marketing BS by Sotheby's - it's a car that's sat unused for a long time, but not forgotten.

 

Agreed. I'm stunned as to how many so called barn finds there seem to be. I call BS

 

I've got a barn find genuine Prius if anyone is interested. Never been raced ,rolled or rallied.Toolkit missing but torch is there.......😜

You know what Gezim, there are some genuine Ferrari barn finds still in Oz.

There is a 166MM somewhere in the outback of QLD under the verandah of some old homestead.

My friend Ross who died last year knew where it was when I was in the air force (he bought the Nardi steering wheel to work ) but he lost touch with it in the intervening 35 years when we got back in touch.

He had a great bush telegraph system and was well known in the vintage community and would have been one of the last people I would have called a liar.

He had the ONLY ALFA G1 in the world and he made it up from the last remaining 2 examples left in Australia by utilising the bush telegraph system.

His car and story was featured in Sports Car World back in the 70s and when I asked him about it he said there were many discrepancies in the story but most of it was accurate and that he knew of a few cars that were hidden in the country to escape taxes and bankrupcies

 

So and so's the Germans (VW) also stole the Bora name from Maserati and stuck it on one of there white goods.

 

A 355 spider went for at least 10k more a few months back. Berlinettas are more sought after.

 

actual selling price or advertised price?. If the former, it's as good as a Lotto win for the seller
