I wonder if they have retired the Cali name on the V8 line to prepare to reuse it on the V12 line where history tells us it really belongs?

    Here's hoping.........

    Tim, +1 :)

An open F12 was a good chance for a real California revival,
hope to see something like that in the future...

Tim California is such an iconic name for Ferrari and as you well suggest, like it was done before with other names, might be used iagain on the V12 line. If your hope becomes a reality and I hope so, we will see a new Ferrari car with the name and versatility of the actual California but with a V12 engine probably incorporating the hybrid technology.

And wouldn't that be just wonderful?

Tim I've had a California NA and now enjoy all the pleasures of a V12 but, sometimes, I miss that dual personality of the Cali which convinced me that I had two different cars. I've wondered before how wonderful it would be if we could have all that in one Ferrari and the answer I believe is your hope for a new V12 California.

That would be really great but I am guessing not any time soon to avoid brand overlap.

Is just me or is it a cheapish looking plastic rear bumper back there?

Seaside town on the Italian Riviera. Exotic. Beautiful. Couldn't you just picture driving your new drop top Ferrari in such a location?[emoji3] I think it's a good name, better than rehashing a hallowed name from the past like Lusso or Superfast.

So do I Tom. The rear's subject seems to be always one of the most controversial.

I like it. If they are doing anything other than number convention, they might as well start some newer names. Can't keep rehashing old ones forever.

Based on Marchionne's comments in the Q2 earnings call recently, I get the vibe this may be one the last aero focused styled Ferrari.

Why, what did he say exactly?

Spoke to my dealer who on the day the car was announced had 30 deposited orders. He now has 50+.....

I fear if they reverse on the aero it's going to set them back even further against the McLarens etc. I guess the question is, if a Ferrari isn't one of the fastest cars out there is that ok? Does that ruin the brand to have it become "just" another pretty car?

Personally, I'm all for ditching the crazy aero on the GT line but the sports car line and hypers I say go crazy to be as fast as possible.

So funny, I can just imagine the Race management team smiling ear to ear. Waitlists on every car, success!!

I have spoken to some people who put deposits down telling me to rush and sell my CalifTHS. They are all new to the brand and when I tell them I had to wait 10months for mine their faces drop, they will be longer lol.

LOL. In my opinion, this is the Cali's best view. Rear, three quarter.

If the Porto can match this, then it's doing well in my, albeit not everyone's, opinion. And, for the person who wished for a V12 variant, let's hope from his/her lips to God's ear. A convertible V12 2+2 Ferrari for the unwashed masses - I'd love that.
