And the detailing includes a Firenze registration plate? Great!

Indeed! That was the original registration on the car when it was new, I think it looks infinitely better than my cheesy CT plate so normally put that on for shows.

Here is a copy of the first registration from the motor vehicle department in Florence dated 27 March 1958 and showing the Florence plate 107.004. Lots of interesting details here, including the original price paid of 5,500,000 Italian lire.

According to fxtop.com the exchange rate on 27th March 1958 was 624 Italian lire to one us$ meaning the new price was $8,800

Hi Grant, would love to but I'm not arriving in the U.K. until Monday so will miss the whole thing unfortunately. Harvey and the rest of the super chaps from DK will be there with the car. Please post pictures, I will be anxious to see how the car looks!

    Great thread, Mark!!

I think the car in the background in post #259 is a Bentley Blower Supercharged. (Not positive)

Yes, along with 250TR #0728TR from Sir Michael Kadoorie stables.

Believe the TR will be displayed in Chantilly Concours which will feature many "big" Ferraris...

Is your car at Blenheim just for the Fri and Sat or also for the Sunday? I am only there for the cheaper option Sunday but otherwise hope to see you and your car in Maranello.

DK are great guys and will look after you well.

Weather looking good for Blenheim. Rain today but sun for the next few.

As sad as this is to admit, I have actually considered this very question. My thought is that if I am changing a tire in the torrential rain on the side of a French motorway then a 5980 might be a tad more practical!

LOL - It's sad that I actually considered if you had been considering it. I know I would on the epic trip of a lifetime.

These are real problems for sure.

    PS - bring them both

That's a shame you will not be there.
I will post some pics but it may not be until Sunday night and I guess you will be in the air, I might be able to do it on my phone if I start practicing now as its only 3 days away!!!

Good question I'm actually not sure. The Tribute to 70 years of Ferrari is Saturday so definitely there for that. I'll ask about Sunday.

How can you tell that it is a blower from that angle?

It has a LeMans style fuel tank on it, but there are so many rebodied cars, and VDP's that had the tanks added later. And a lot of blower clones too.

The blowers weren't even successful as race cars.

    Correct. I said, "not positive."

However, given the cars surrounding it, I went out in a limb and made the assumption that it was not only a blower but a 'true' blower.

Given the rear right fender, wire wheel, with the 2 eared spinner it 'might' be a blower.

True, one can't see the blower as it sits up front, but maybe someone will chime in with some answers.

    Thanks.
